SSH from Windows to Linux (+ Transfer Files via SFTP)

Unfortunately, some of you are running Windows. This video I will show you how to have control of your Linux server though your Windows machine. All this can be done though the command prompt within Windows, but I will go over some 3rd party applications that include additional features and functionality.

Also I forgot to mention when using the ssh functionality in command prompt you can move entire directories in addition to individual files.

WOW! I am so happy I found this video! I was getting the "authenticity of host can't be established" and it didn't let me type anything when using scp, I have been looking this solution for like 2 hours, after doing what you did using ssc and then going back to using scp I was able to transfer the file. I really appreciate what you do!! I hope everyone coming to watch this video find their solutions too!

Few more options: - Interesting way is coping files via explorer (virtual drive): raidrive (but: freenium, closed source, no DAC editor) - Instead filezilla: doublecmd (open source) - Better terminal emulator: console2 or... ...wsl + vcxsrv + your favorite linux terminal emulator :o)

Gotta love tutorials that fail on the very first step. But that seems to be par for the course for everything in Linux. For anyone else who gets a "port 22: Connection refused" error, you will probably have to run these commands on your linux machine (even if it seems like ssh server is already good to go): sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install openssh-server sudo ufw allow 22

Hi, it's been days I'm struggling to find out why my windows can't get access to the server, I've tried changing passwords, removing and installing back the OS but nothing works please help. Hello, I have an SSH command in my windows10 end while I think there is an issue in the installation of my ubuntu server. I am wondering how to check if my server end is ready to be connected by SSH command. I manually give my server end an IP address if this piece of information is necessary.

@@TechHut thankyou for the reply and I have installed ubuntu 14.04 on to it it runs perfectly fine but it no more supported so I was thinking about installing 18.04 or 20.04 because they are supported till 2023 and 2025 respectively both 14.04 and 18.04 system requirements are same so what do u think which one should I install 20.04 or 18.04 thankyou again.

Dude I used FileZilla as well, but on Linux. Windows vs is BLOATED with Malware now. I installed it and it changed a ton of setting on chrome and edge. Ended up having to reformat. I can’t find FTP that is safe.
