Potara fusion is like, the perfect fusion, the best one in terms of "balance", it takes Goku's and Vegeta's essences and make them one single entity. While for Gogeta, is sadly not a perfect fusion, but neither is balanced. That means that Gogeta doesn't have a power limit like Vegito. But we have to look for some singular things like: The Gogeta fusion can't be done if Goku and Vegeta aren't close in power levels, if one of them becomes too much strong or too much weak than the fusion won't happen. While, with the Potara fusion it isn't a problem, and you can use it with anyone. It even last's 1 h, while Gogeta last's only 30 min. Personally, I prefer Vegito, mostly for his character and for his original personality, not taking seriously who's against him and making fun while flexing power. And it's a good one at the end, just like Goku, with an original fighting style. Gogeta is indeed a better chose if you wanna fight a strong opponent using strong forms, but if you prefer a more balanced fighter, with pretty op and cool abilites for any moment than Vegito is better.

SS4 is around as powerful as SSG, multiplier-wise. However, Base GT Goku is as strong as SS3 Goku. I mean, he trains with Kid Buu in Base form, after all. So, it's safe to say that SS4 in GT is more powerful than SSB.
