Thanks for doing a review on the SSK. It's too bad they sent you the pitcher's model. I love SSK leather because it's soft but maintains stiffness to an insane degree.
Maybe I’m crazy. And I’ve never purchased an SSK glove. I’ve just admired them from afar. But the glove you chose says it’s supposed to close thumb to ring. They designed it that way. Whereas they designed some of their 11.75 H webs to close thumb to pinky. I wonder if that would give you a more fair comparison.
I just want to submit one small vote for indoor demonstrations in the facility. It’s hard to explain, but (inside) I get a real feel with how hard the ball is being hit, the pop of the glove is such ear candy and you’re clearer to hear when you speak. The sound in closed space amplifies everything. There’s also some glare in the sunlight
@@ballgloveking Could you post a vid on best in feild gloves for young players? I am 13 and play shortstop I need a new glove but I am having trouble finding the right one. This would help so much since your name is ball glove KING. Thank you so much great content keep up the grind.
Bought a ssk for slow pitch and similar issue right now trying to break it in. My easton hybrid that i use for baseball took about a hour to break in closing thumb to pinky with 2 hinges and took a beautiful shape....and that horween makes that glove 👌... but my ssk has been a pain so far.
Lol been asking for this for a while and finally got it plus just found out after try outs I made the baseball team again my second year playing school ball bought a ssk because middle of the season and middle of a game my gloves pocket ripped open so had to use a back up glove and ordered this while I was waiting to go back on defense
Great vid. I am curious if you plan on making glove recommendations for softball at some point in the future...or the past, you know, whatever you're in to.
Two different gloves. Two different break in’s. Some Japanese models are way shallow and are meant to close thumb to middle hence why you feel your hand actually squeezing the ball and not getting stuck in the pocket. More of a middle infielder type of glove.

Wonder how much of the “issues” with the SSK are because of preference and change in construction? I have a 11.25” SSK PRO-ALNY that I bought almost 20yrs ago. Glove is still holding together strong and gave me the perfect pocket for 2B and occasional SS.
That’s awesome! Gloves in small ways have decreased in durability over time sadly but they have also increased in general shape and performance and comfort. The things I pointed out weren’t preferences. The glove isn’t far worse it is just a slight down grade in durability and performance long term
I've had both Rawlings and SSK in high school and college and SSK is the winner for me hands down, just fit better and easier to break in! Japanese gloves in general are superior IMHO, love Mizuno and SSK!
What glove size would you recommend for me? I can palm a basketball and my size in batting gloves is a XXL on average. I have problems fitting into gloves at times and I’ve been looking for some advice.
Im done playing baseball after this season (one more game) how do you recommend keeping a 44 nice for a shelf piece that I may or may not give to my brother in a few years? Any tips?
Do you think a Z5 would be a good option for a secondary outfield glove? I’ve been playing more and more outfield recently and have been borrowing peoples gloves, wanna get my own for when I’m playing outfield.
I’d love to see what you think of them real exclusive gloves in Japan like a Slugger, or a Wilson Staff but I know them ain’t cheap or easy to get here as I’m trying to get one myself
Hey I noticed u have that toro glove I checked social media and the website but it seems their websites are down. I have a friend in Japan Right now and they can’t find it.
Can you take a look at the Wilson a1000, it’s a mid range glove that competes with the r9 and gamer. I haven’t seen any reviews on in and I bought it off a teammate recommendation for high school ball(I’m a catcher but I occasionally play middle infeild but not enough to make an a2000 worth it)
Need a new glove for highschool BSBL, I'm a utility player so probably a 12in, under $150 would be nice. I was looking at a 12in SSK Z5. Any recommendations?
It 100% is. I tried explaining that a little if I remember correctly. The glove feels like it’s lacking some insides like it could use some better finger inserts and heel insert and so on
That’s why I trust Rawlings a lot more than others. You can manipulate different sections of the glove and you can close it without all of the leather moving with it, kind of like a hardback book.
Have both, would never go back to rawlings. Anyone with an SSK and takes time to break it in patiently and well, it is an incredible globe. Z9 or Zpro event better. They hold their shape forever, highly predictable glove. Fielding results prove it time and again.
