This is cool as I have been in the market for a physical slider/encoder controller. But wow 700 USD. I feel like it's a bit over priced for what it can do.

how do we exactly turn on the analogue view?

A lot of overlap between UF1/8 UC1 it looks like. All of them have transport control for instance, now the UF1 has done it right. They did need a way to control master channel so cool to see that. This does compliment the other devices some but I see more overlap in functionality than complimenting the existing UC1/UF8 products

SSL seem to have really listened to the feedback and made something that really fits in with this ecosystems workflow!

for someone with bad eyes that easily tire from squinting at monitor pixels, this might be a great save

Hey, thanks for watching! We're glad you're into it! As people who also wear glasses, we can confirm that working with the UF1 is a breeze! The on-board display is really high quality and the perfect size for up-close work!

Thank you so much. I learned more in four minutes on here than I did waiting through half an hour of the official SSL tutorial - which frankly put me to sleep.

Attention if you use the UF1 in combination with the UF8 (Cubase), you cannot select the lower last 7 tracks on the UF1. This is because the UF8 always selects 8 adjacent tracks and the UF1 can only select the top (left) track of the UF8 at a time. UF8 and UF1 are synchronised. This means that the bottom last 7 tracks are always not selectable for the UF1. This is real rubbish.

This is totally from a post production perspective so take it as you will but… After using Avids proper controllers (s1, S3, 4 and S6) I have to say this is a very underserved market getting by on old principles that new mixers do not want. No one needs plugin control, or a jog wheel 😂. I guarantee no mixer is trying to jogwheel their way through a project under the age of 50. It’s just such a shame to see Avid still locking down their interface to HUI for third party controllers because all we want is an affordable top quality high resolution single fader with selectable flip fade. The inbuilt PPM on here is a nice touch but the mixer DAW controller only has one feature that can’t be done on the screen and that’s the fader itself so HUI control just isn’t enough.

I used the SSL controllers and sold them. i don’t know what they are thinking. It costs 1/3 of a new M2 MacBook Pro yet they try to sell us this high resolution display as something outer worldly. For more modern music styles such devices are nice to look at but pretty damn pointless. As much as I want them to improve my workflow, I’m always much much faster with my DAW. Also nowadays people want to produce mobile on MacBooks/Laptops hence this controller is way too big. I can use streamdeck if I want extra keys. Hard pass!
@atacamabeatsindierecording8406
Wonder why they put the fader on the left side ?…….

Maybe the same reason all the other ones have it on the left

Hey, thanks for watching! I supose its probably because its been modeled on the workflow and layout of the iconic desks in SSLs catalouge
@CircusNormal

So for the past 20 years most producers have moved away from the external and into working in the box, SSL on the other hand are doing everything they can to drag people out of it. Looks cool but it's completely unnecessary, everything thing this can do you can already do anyway. I mean is the hi definition screen really a USP? I've already got three of those and one of them is 55 inches. I like SSL, worked on their desks for many years and their software is terrific but this is just pretty pointless. They're basically creating a solution for a problem that doesn't exist as the entire raison d'etre of a DAW does exactly, if not better, than what this device is trying to support. Last time I checked a Behringer X Touch one did exactly the same thing for about £80 quid. This is obviously aimed at the young producer who wants the new shiny thing on his desk and is convinced it will transform his workflow, it won't. Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools etc have already got you covered.

yep Behringher does the X range. They're cheap, nasty and feel like absolute garbage to use. Might as well just burn your cash, they're that bad. Tactile control for making music might have moved into a niche field, but it can be a delightful experience when done right. Look at modular gear. Buy VCV rack if you want, but it ain't touching what you'll get with the real deal. Up to the buyer of course, and some will no doubt see it as an extravagance/waste of money, whatever, but if you think you're getting the same experience with software, you're kidding yourself.
