Damn Capt. Rick if you add anything if you add anything else to Sophisticated Lady you better be sure it will work under water because you are gonna sink the boat !!!!!! LMAO
No, these are just test products, we recycle what we don't want after the review, and keep what we like for extended usse if it's size and weight is justified! :)
Thank you for the update, my wife and I live on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia. Although we have a 2.4 solar panels on the roof of our house and a Solar Hot water system, the weather so far this year has been far from favourable, there has been times where we have had to rely on outside power source to heat our water. I really like the concept of what you explained, I feel that one still needs a second backup to maintain the power requirements. Wim Baas
Great review Rick. This is a game changer. The way energy costs are increasing here in the UK might have to use something like this moving forward on a regular basis.
Thank You Captain Rick After a 6 Day power failure from crazy storm in the Kawartha's Ontario Canada Trees down everywhere and every thing in the fridge is lost no running water being rural on a well and no internet and due to damage of cell towers barely any cell connection was able to text. We do have 4 solar panels on the roof at 365 watts each we use to heath the lower element of our hot water tank this Ecoflow Delta pro looks like a life safer during power outage and on a ongoing base it will reduce our Hydro bill
wow captain Rick, you are inspiring to me,years ago you just started with faith and a dream. wow look at your life and world wide influence!!! God bless you sir! I pray for you😊
"Dual programming options", it looks like they make an add on that can be plugged in to access functionality. It also seems to have an option to be wireless itself. "EcoFlow DELTA Pro Remote Control"
I really think the price point is worth what it can save you... I really am excited about this aspect of what your doing rite now.... Hug Maddie for me and kiss little Ricardo for me... Thanks for sharing your lives an knowledge with us.. ✌🏼💗😊❣️
Cap l love this tech stuff....Thanks Captain Rick....From an old Navy flying Shoe🇺🇸 in my 80's But l would love to light up those two J79 jet engines in my F-4 Phantom just one more time 👍
Heck, this would work great on a tiny house set up, instead of hooking up to the grid, which is increasingly seen as less than stable. Thx for the info, definitely something to consider.
Would this run a power grinder or a 7” sander/ polisher. How long would it run if you lose sunlight? I have been following this technology for years, exciting stuff! I believe time will tell on reliability and it’s capacity to withstand the harsh saltwater environments.
It will run those type of tools easily, and for many many hours no problem.. it has the startup capacity to kick over the largest of power tools, even a big air conditioner!
Think it would be ok in the hot lazerette? I know those handy output ports wouldn't be accessible, but a semi permanent 30 amp output to shore power inlet on the boat would be a nice backup
I've been eyeing up this model for a bit now, but need them to import the generator and home power interface to the UK for 240v... We dont have AC in the UK. Saving for 3 units at the moment! Thanks Rick.
A neater option for yachties is to provide a connection where you can hook it up directly to the boats main solar panels providing you have a big enough array of course.
Great evaluation of the solar power station, it looks great and has potential, but would you really pay $3,699.00 (plus $549 for the solar) for it? Sorry to put you on the spot.
Another thing I've always wondered about these setups is in the test where it was Solar -> unit -> dingy, does it feed the power directly to dingy or does it go into the battery THEN into the dingy from the battery? The latter would increase wear on the battery when it isn't needed..........
Would a couple of the Delta units be something a homeowner could use instead of a Generac? We're getting big storms with hydro interruptions of a week or more.
That is very cool... Im thinking this could be a stand alone system just for my computer so the boats system doesn’t have to be upgraded to handle the extra power of me working on my computer for 8 hours would entail and it’s perfect as I tend to work at night.
Could you explain for old people what this thing actually does? Run a small house without AC or could I use it as an extra so the electric bills go down?
@@SailingSophisticatedLady thank you Good Sir. We got our butts kicked this weekend up here in the Ottawa area. 120-190 km winds. I was out of power for 4 days. Got me thinking about adding a solar genny, because alot of our gas stations were closed and fuel was hard to come by for my generator.
I've been watching and supporting your channel a long time Rick...I got to tell you I'm not crazy about product reviews from a sailing channel..There are product review channels for this..Solar is in the baby stages and will be years in the practical making..Love your how too fix stuff and sailing life.. Not so much on product reviews..There are better solar options.
Thanks, but I was a product review and tutorial channel long before anyone started calling us sailing channels... just look back, I've got a 15-year history on RU-vid, and lots of how-to-do-it videos for those that want to learn how to maintain the lifestyle.. there's only so many times you can show waves over the bow when you've been doing it as long as I have.. and there's a thousand channels competing for the same air space for sailing channels now, mostly with bikini girls, and you'll notice in the entire airspace there is only one channel over a million subscribers, and a handful on the way.. that means the market for sailing channels is over saturated for a long time now and there is not a big enough following for it. for me that means time to shift focus.. of course we will still be sailing for a living, that's how we live.. but videos for me can encompass so much more than just waves crashing over the bow in an unrealistic approach to how to actually live this lifestyle... so on we go, and now with new products and technology in this space improving in leaps and bounds, I love being part of that space also! :)
@@SailingSophisticatedLady Thank you for taking the time to reply..I guess I wasn't aware that you were a product review channel before I subscribed...Thank you also for looking out for Plukky ..
Great review. Lot of technical information in a short period of time....well done. If you are up for a good laugh watch the turbo encabulator on youtube....hilarious
Wouldn't it be better to charge the ePropultion battery with the DC output, so you don't have to use the inverter to convert to AC and then convert back to DC?
There are 2 things about this product review. Oddly, I built one of these things myself back in 2012, some 10 years ago for a fraction of what the one in your video costs. So there is nothing new or significant about this device. And yes I built mine on a suitcase dolly that I received that year as a Christmas present. So it was equally portable, and maybe a bit more so. I, too, hinged my panels with small cabinet hinges so they could be folded up and stored easily. Again the only difference was the much lower cost of mine relative to this thing in your video. I used a battery, an inverter, a charger, a control box with amp and volt meter along with a light that came on when you switched it on. Secondly, you (and many of us watching this) have a solar system and do not need one of these. We already have the same thing, only on a larger scale. You have one in your boat which you either purchased or were given by various producers in exchange for your use and subsequent review. All your Victron, Battleborn, etc are essentially the same as this unit. I think the only difference, other than the cost is that when you buy one of these units, all put together, the user can have the convenience of not having to research how to build one themselves. But the diffence in cost is significant. Right now I can buy a lifepo4 lithium battery with similar wattage for well under $800. 304 ah batteries, including shipping right now are selling for $180 each. These are 3.2 volt, so 4 are needed to produce a 12.8 volt battery. BMS for under $30. Inverter for well under $300. Use of a power source often less than $50, some wiring and a meter for monitoring and you are in the range of 1/4 the cost of one of these. Folding solar panels have come way down in cost as well. Rigid frame panels are under $80. Just saying. Why spend all that extra money???? The makers of these are raping their customers.
Hey, I was building my own drones with cameras on them 25 years ago, just like you.. the difference is nobody was building anything similar on a commercial level available to the average consumer.. now there is, and it doesn't require technical knowledge to get it up and running.. that's the difference, and there is definitely a much larger market for this type of product to those that have no interest or time to DIY.. for you and I, DIY will always be available, but now there are options available to average consumers so they can reap the long term benefits also, so that's a good thing! :)
Ecoflow, nice but not affordable to most..You can get a much larger gas generator 4 times more capacity for 2 thirds less the cost....I think its a nice device if made affordable....
@@SailingSophisticatedLady but you could add a backup solution fully integrated, isolated and nicely tucked away for less then that! I get its good to get freebies to creat content with 😃 dont forget its using components made in China, the lifepo4 the inverter and most likely the charger.
I guess its time for me to be the curmudgeon again. The battery bank is NOT a generator! The solar panels which gather energy from the sun are much closer to a generator than a bank of batteries (yes I know that a battery is by definition a bank of electrochemical cells, feel free to call me out on this if you must), without the solar panels your battery is as useless as your diesel engine without fuel. Its time to take back the English language from the dunderheads that run the marketing departments and the influencers that follow along for the good times that are promised. Why, oh why must we try to deceive? Its a battery with AC output (and no it doesn't matter if its 30w, 3Kw, or 300Tw). Just call a spade; a spade and be happy. 🙂
