2007 this song... i see AB as a wake up call band. Their songs are either anthems or make you reflect about life or just slap you face, as you said it before. Best band ever for me
The album this is off majority of the songs were about their record deal issues with the label for their first album and how they had to buy out of it, I believe this song is aimed at that record label and how they tried to tell Alter Bridge what their sounds should be etc...
There are 2 songs off the Blackbird album that are the basic "fuck you" songs (in my eyes) that tells people to back off. White Knuckles and Ties that Bind. White Knuckles is basically telling everyone who believed that they were Creed to fuck off and that they didnt want to be recognized as the band that resembles the past of the 3 members of Creed. Ties that Bind is the song that is their anthem for breaking free of the toxicity of their first record label wanting to push the Christian Rock persona that was portrayed from Creed which is what they tried with Evanescence (yes AB and Evanescence had the same record label at one point).

This song was on the Blackbird album which was released in 2007. A previous comment mentioned this and Ties That Bind. ABs 2016 record, The Last Hero is very much a politically charged album. Which also happens to be my least favorite. Not because of the political undertones, but I just didn’t like it. I understand bands change, personally things change, life and things just happen. I just prefer the sound and themes of One Day Remains, Blackbird and their 2019 release, Walk The Sky sound.
