This was incredibly helpful, thanks you two! This was our first time stumbling across your channel and we must say, you guys do a fabulous job! Keep it up, we will be back!
You should have visited the Castillo during a canon-firing ceremony; multiple times per day and very impressive with reenactors in period Spanish garb. Mojo's Tacos for breakfast and, for a beach, I recommend Anestasia State Park, just south of the lighthouse, there's a small fee but it's protected.
Always! I did the crazy part. I don't need to add to it. The funny thing is I'm always the one who volunteers us to do these things things. In my head it's never that bad until I get up there
Did you know St. Augustine has the narrowest street in the US? What about the light house, did you know it's rumored to be haunted? 🔔 If you enjoyed this video, LIKE, SUBSCRIBE & help our channel grow🔔: ru-vid.com
Great video! My wife and I go to St Augustine as much as we can, and Mango Mango is one of our favorite spots! We can't wait to try the blue hen now! Next time you guys go down, you have to try pizza time and the world famous burrito shop. The alligator farm is the only place in the world as far as I know where you can see every species of crocodilian known to man as well. Will definitely subscribe to you guys!
@@TheDetourDuo, the night of lights is great! You should also consider seeing the city from the water on a cruise during the holidays. It's a lot of fun.
Gosh I love y’all’s videos. I get so excited every time you upload! I love watching people try the food that makes a city unique. I love the longer format video also! Keep up the good work! You two are adorable! ❤❤ much love from Fort Lauderdale!!
Thanks Lexi! We were actually just in Fort Lauderdale. We didn't shoot a video though but we're probably planning a trip down to Miami and Palm Beach sometime in the near future
I live in St Johns County. And while I have heard so much about The Ble Hen, I need to go there. While I agree that St Augustine Seafood is "meh" considering the price, you missed some gems. For coconut shrimp, it's OC White's; for fish and chips I recommend Barley Republic. You should have sampled Hyppo (I love the blueberry & goat cheese popsicle) on St George Street. In Cresent Beach near Ft Matanzas, Commander's Shellfish Camp has some of the best NE clam chowder I've had. (they farm their own clams)
I forgot two others: Pizza Time on St George Street (voted #2 in the US by TripWise{and dang good}) and the MUST HAVE in St Augustine; Hazel's Hot Dogs on Ponce de Leon
@@lafl333 The Night of Lights event in St. Augustine. The entire historic district is lit up with over 3 million Christmas lights. We rode the trolley through the district to see the lights, and it was absolutely beautiful.
Narrow streets... I'm originally from Havana, Cuba.. Old Havana was built up before St Augustine, and it too has narrow streets.. Now, the narrow streets would not be about stopping pirates. Rather, since the Caribbean is such a hot place - even back then before man-made Climate change - the streets were made narrow to provide shade from the sun. It has nothing to do with stopping pirates, corsairs, or other interlopers, as even Havana was raided, sacked and burne in 1555. The narrow streets offered no valuable protection and St Augustine had yet to be founded.
My daughter and I visited St. Augustine for the first first time a few weeks ago. We visited several of the places you highlighted in your video. We highly recommend the Lightner Museum and also recommend Ponce de Leon’s Fountain of Youth, The Cathedral, and a boat tour. We will definitely be retuning to St. Augustine in the future!
@@TheDetourDuono not Carmelo’s. That’s good too. But Pizza time is on St. George about half way down. They used to have a gelato station in there, but that is no more. They put an extra seating because they needed it.! Pizza anyway, you want it,arrancini,Stromboli,calzone,beer/wine……….nice stop :)
You should definitely visit Greenville, SC! We loved the steamed bagel sandwiches at Sully's, the chillout kava drinks at Kava Konnection, and the Bandeja Paisa at Sacha's Cafe.
It's not the oldest city in the United States, it is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in what is now the contiguous United States.
@@sb4040 Nope. Go look at St Auggie's website and you will see it's written like that. First bc there are older native cities, second there are older cities but weren't continuous inhabitants and third bc San Juan is apart of the United States and is older.
We saw people laying out. By the pier there isn't much space but if you walk down further it opens up. We were just short on time and didn't save enough time to lay out.
My husband and I just got back from St. Augustine! It’s our favorite beach spot. Next time you guys go, you should definitely check out Sunset Grille. The food is really good! Great video!
it’s true I live in Saint Augustine and you could go there around Christmas time because there are lights everywhere and it’s beautiful and there’s a big Christmas tree and also New Year’s Eve there’s also a countdown❤
St. Augustine is the oldest CONTINUOUSLY occupied city in Florida. The oldest city in Florida is actually Fernandina Beach. The fort is older. They lost control and moved to St. Augustine and stayed there from then on.
What are you talking about? Saint Augustine is the oldest city in the U.S., established 1565. The Fort was built in the late 17th century to thwart pirate and privateer attacks.

@@TheDetourDuo sure thing! You earned a new subscriber with it! I’m actually headed to St. Augustine this weekend to film an episode of a brand new blog series. Research lead me to y’all’s channel and it rocks!
@@TheDetourDuo primarily it’s a travel vlog. St. Augustine is an easy one to start with because I live up in Jacksonville. I’ll be traveling nearly full time this year and doing everything from overnight Amtrak trains to visiting Portugal and Morocco
@@NickGoesFar jealous. We're starting to plan for more international trips. Portugal and Morocco are definitely on our list. Amtrak is a fun one too. We've just done the Northeast regional up the coast and the California zephyr
