I like trolling the weedbeds for pike and muskie on the edge of the flats. From time to time I can see the smallest chasing minnows between the gaps in the weeds on the edge of the flats. One morning I didn't see anything darting around, and my 3rd or 4th pass I hooked a 42 lb muskie. After I released it, the other fish came to life, so it must have left the area.
It always a learning experience when you let us "Look" with you under the water and see exactly what is going on, and how the fish are relating to the environment.
Man this is top notch quality programming right here! I can't believe more people don't watch your content. May you continue to prosper and grow as an educational program!
I still have Kim fishing with BassMaster's Chuck Roberts on St. Clair from the late 80's on tape. Kim and the boat have changed in looks. But the Fishery has gotten better too !! Great video as Always !!
Ha! Chuck and I caught them all out of a 30-ft. diameter eddy caused by the grass on the edge of the channel. Fact is, I found those fish in August, filmed the episode in September and won two local tournaments off that spot in October. The fish haven't been stacked there since. Chuck passed a few years back.
@@Hooknlook Yeah, I was saddened by his loss, as I'm sure many people were ! That is really interesting to know. Since Smallies are roamers. You two were catching a mix of both smallmouth and large if not mistaken. I'll have to go watch it now just for a memory re-fresh and cause it was one of my favorite episodes. I was blessed to be able to get some lost footage, to Ron Lindner and Al a few years ago. That had gotten lost Ron told me, at the end of the In-Fisherman days. Ron asked me why I still had them after all these years. I told him, each one is still full of Knowledgeable information that is still applicable today. Ron will be Dearly Missed !! I've been a fan of yours too ever since. I now live here in Michigan and have fished St. Clair many times. Your knowledge has helped me out fish my buddies on more than several occasions. I even won a local Tournament myself, from the back of the boat nonetheless ! Thanks for all you do Kim, for the World of Fishing and Beyond !! God Bless !!! Keep Hookin & Lookin !!!
St Clair has very little structural differences but when you find it you can definitely caught a lot of smallmouth I’ve been fishing there for twenty years now and if you find boulders or weed patches start fishing because they are going to be there
Fantastic video. Would you say the the best flats with grass was at the outflow of the middle channel into the main lake? I am going to LSC in June. Can you share with spots you saw good fish or a few coordinates? Thanks again. It would be a blast to fish with you.
Looks just like the Sahara desert after you leave the grass! It all makes sense now those smallies will find ANYTHING to sit on different than just sandy desert bottom
@@juststatinfactssv4989 Would you rather I wing the fish in the boat and let it flop on the hot carpet? Furthermore, have you considered this possibility, there may be a sponsorship involved? Thanks for your interest ... and concern. Sorry my netting bothers you.
When we see the opportunity to capture underwater strike shots, we do, but conditions have to be right. Check out these videos, "5 Tips for Soft-Plastic Jerkbaits", "How to Slip- Bobber for Crappie", "Red Ear Sunfish Underwater", "Is This Crappie Sniffing?", all have strike shots. Thanks for your interest and spread the word about our underwater videography.
