Quick review and test run of my new rod ST Croix Trout Series 2022 model TFS64LF2 1.7-7g.
Recently i tried Heinis same rod but 6 foot 1-5g and after that i decided to get new rod for myself but to go for a bit heavier version.
This new rod is softer and more sensitive than my previous rod Westin Street Stick 2-7g.
After trying out this new rod, i couldn't believe how much of the difference is between Heinis rod and my rod. His rod is so much more flexible than mine. Doesn't feel as it is 2-7g compared with Heinis rod. Don't take me wrong, it is softer than my previous one but comparing with Heinis rod, i expected to be softer than it is. When i hook into small trout, it springs back a bit too quickly due too fast action and i still lose some of those small ones (not like with Heinis rod which is way more flexible, absorbs shakes much better and keeps fish on the hook).
But when i hook in to Big Fish - totally different story. It has plenty backbone and manage to hold Big Fish so well and effortless. It's just pleasure to fight Big Trout when with Heins rod is getting bit scary to fight fish bigger than 45cm.
Only thing - i got new super thin line PE#0.3 and i wish it would be a bit thicker as when i was fighting 60cm Monster Trout, that was my only weaker link. Otherwise fighting 60cm Monster and to be able to control it would be no problem.
