Welcome to the Garden Congregation RU-vid Channel!

Join Dean Robert on this St David's Day from the historic and very beautiful church of St Paul's, Franklin, Tennessee for a short reflection, surrounded by the beautiful Tiffany glass.
When Canterbury Cathedral was closed to the clergy by the Archbishop in March 2020 the then Dean, Robert Willis, and his partner Fletcher took to filming daily services in their garden through to May 2022. Usually joined each day by at least one of their cats (Monkey, Lilly, Tiger or Leo) and a whole host of their menagerie from pigs and chickens to hedgehogs and newts and whilst sitting in the gardens through all seasons, this is a wonderful way to switch off and meditate whilst listening to a mix of poetry, recitals, current affairs, music - and of course the daily psalms and readings from the bible which are then explored and unpicked by Dean Robert.

For Morning Prayer Dean Robert uses the Church of England book, “Common Worship Daily Prayer 2005” (Church House publishing). The bible is the English Standard Version (Collins), and occasionally - though always stated - Dean Robert uses the New Revised Standard Version or the King James.

Thank you so much for continuing your presence as leader of the Garden Congregation. It added so much to my life during the pandemic and was a true nourishment for my spiritual well being. It is fascinating to see the worldwide drawing together of so many different people on a daily basis for simple prayer and growth. So much of our lives is spent within focus on youth and the institutions of society. Your synthesis of nature, literature, art, history, music, and current events is a splendid counterbalance and immensely helpful for calibration. We are spiritual beings but we are also part of God's creation including music, art, literature, history, and nature. A man so associated with Canterbury who can acknowledge the greater world is an excellent example. I don't know how your journey will change at this time of life. I am grateful you give space for your Garden Congregation to share your life. God bless you, Fletcher and your loved ones. Please carry on.

What a wonderful surprise this morning to find a new Morning Prayer service!! It is a blessing just to receive a simple morning prayer service from you with prayer, a psalm, and reading. Dear Dean Robert and Fletcher. Dawn and myself (Gill) travelled from Liverpool last February during Storm Eunice hoping to meet before your departure. After evening H.C. we met over coffee, myself needing a wheelchair, having fallen previous evening, vacated it to sit next to you when Dawn appeared with teas. I suggested she sit in wheelchair which provoked the highlight of my visit when you and she had such an argey bargie as to who really should be the occupant! We and a few others, had a good 20 minutes of laughter and jollity, you laughing most as I insisted you became next Bishop of Liverpool ! Bless you both ... words not enough to express our delight!!! What a blessing to find the daily office for the Garden Congregation!! We all miss the daily gathering of the Garden Congregation. Thankfully the prior videos are still available so I can go back and watch the prior years. Please keep these videos coming! I hope Tiger, Lily and Leo are all doing well.. Many thanks to you Dean Robert for sharing so much with all of us. And thanks to Fletcher for the work in putting the videos together. If you are ever in Western North Carolina, we would love to have you visit with us at the Church of the Holy Cross in Valle Crucis, NC which was started in 1842. Btw, I do not attend church, but are there churches you recommended who are smilier to how Dean Robert explains things? Just wondering! Thank you.

Thank you, Dean Robert and Fletcher and if you show up in our church, we will recognize you two for sure now. It is a blessing to have the Morning Prayer vids still on YT on the Garden Congregation site, we use them daily, and attend Evensong at Canterbury Cathedral online too! Did look for 29 February until I realized you hadn't done a Leap Year so this St David's Day meditation takes the place of that. Blessings and gratitude from Yvonne in the US

Dear Dean Robert and Fletcher…thank you for bringing us together again. The Garden Congregation became so much a part of my daily life and I miss it greatly. Every service was uplifting, nourishing, and full of faith. It was as though somebody disconnected us when the daily services stopped. It gives me great hope and joy to be together again. Your loving and devoted congregation will be wherever you are…we all are here with you. Blessings to you both with prayers for the flowers, trees, and Heavenly gardens that brought us together. I miss our dear friends, the animals, Tiger and Lily having tea, Winston and Clemmie with their precious piglets, Russel Crow…all. Please keep,these posts coming. I took a break this Saturday evening from playing Sims and clicked on RU-vid. RU-vid clearly remembers how I watched morning prayers from Canterbury right up until the day Dean Robert retired. It recommended this to me. This little time of prayer was like a refreshing drink of water after a long, dry time. I've been watching morning prayers from Washington National Cathedral during my teabreak at work, and I enjoy them, but there is only one Dean Robert.

This Lenten moment together is such a blessing! I came across this video at midnight, just as my birthday began, and such a delightful and hearty gift it is to pray with Dean Robert and the Garden Congregation!! I discovered this group of pandemic pilgrims early on and prayed with and for you from San Diego. I can't think of a better way to start my birthday!! Such a blessing -- thank you, Dean Robert and Fletcher, and sending the best scritches to Tiger, Lily, Leo, and love to the garden hedgehogs (my favorite animals!) Soli Deo Gloria, Susanne :)

I am re-watching all those Morning Prayers, they brought me through the lock down days of Covid. And now one more, thank you so Dean Robert and Fletcher! Each moring i begin my own prayers with your opening prayer "The night is over, etc" and pray for each and every member of your, and my, Garden Congregation!
