St. Joe's Athletic Director Speaks About Phil Martelli's Firing 

Someone close to the Athletic Department stated that Phil was given the opportunity to resign with dignity - with reduction of the amount of money owing on his contract. Phil would not loose money and chose money over St. Joe's. Sadly, the University could not stand the losing any further and decided to take the economic hit on Phil's pay rather than have him continue. This could have gone MUCH differently, but Phil's "integrity" and "love for St. Joe's" were the reason why he wouldn't resign and no other choice but to force the termination of his contract.

What a BS press conference. She was attracted to St. Joe's because of Martelli???

Let's face it. His teams blew too many half time and late games leads. Especially this year. Good luck Phil.

Time will tell. Basketball is the only possible "Cash Cow" for St Joe's. They think they can be Villanova. We'll see!
