Players might seek out Bosco because they have a reputation and they want national exposure, but Bosco doesn't recruit anybody. Period. They don't have the budget, and they don't have the staff. They don't even have any feeder schools.

Like all private schools, Bosco has no residence requirements that define who can or can not be a student. What I said was that Bosco doesn't recruit students to play football or any other sports. They have neither the budget nor the staff to do that, and in any case, don't need to. Students that attend Bosco do so only out of their own willingness and have their own motivations for seeking out St. John Bosco. I speak from first-hand experience, since I attended Bosco, played football for them, and have specifically spoken with Coach Negro about this exact subject. I believe this is true at Mater Dei also, although I can't say for sure. But I have never known of any recruiting done by MD either. Like SJB, players are attracted to MD because of their reputation. I don't know where you live, but So Cal is extremely fertile ground for youth football players from the age of 5 on up, arguably one of the best in the nation. The weather allows year-round training for those interested. In my experience, practically everybody on the many teams is well aware of SJB and MD. @@LesterMoore

Talk to any coach when you’re playing a team ranked #1 and it’s go for 2 or go to OT and your team has given up 42 pts. Analytics and Coaches say go for 2. You guys are insane to think they shoulda gone to OT. Did any of you actually watch the full game? I did their defense couldn’t stop a pencil.

Nice wish about North Shore and Austin Westlake, but they refuse to play any Cali teams and virtually all OOS teams of any consequence at all. Why? I think they just like to cling to that myth that Texas football is second to none, despite NO Texas team winning a (theoretical) national championship since 2006.

Duncanville, DeSoto, Allen, Euless, and some others are all Texas teams that have played top OOS teams. I'm sure NS and AW have heard their names being called out. Texas prep football culture is really second to none. It's like Nebraska football- they sell out tickets wether they have a loosing season or not. Not saying they are the best, but win, loose, or draw the fans stay with them. I believe them and ND have the longest sold out seasons for consecutive years in a row. @@terencedoherty3049

You saw it live but didn’t mention all the penalties against bosco, centennial turning over the ball, having a kick blocked, going for 2…weird you didn’t mention any of this.

Was it the refs that's told Centennial to go for two? The reality is they had an opportunity to win the game. The truth is Centennial took a gamble going for two points and they lost.

Some high school coaches are boneheads. I got a worse call. The Kahuku coach, yeah the team that beat SJB, in a game two weeks ago, went for it on 4th and 2 from their own 20 something near the end of the half. Failed and the other team scored a TD right before half. Kahuku ended up losing by one TD.

They had two kicks blocked/missed earlier in the game. Makes perfect sense to go for two when your special teams was getting beat.

yeah and the announcer was yelling and talking while the boy kicked dam shame..I can't believe this morning that nobody realizes no matter what call was made Boscoe was going to get the win period. they team rushed the field at 8 secs and again bfr a whistle or flag was thrown on the last play..was there and still saddned to rob kids who won righteously meaning Cen10 and still scored on the obvious cheating a$$ refs. boscoe need to really knock it off.

Yeah, I know the thinking was put them up by a TD and field goal but when you have a chance to make it a 2 possession game I think you kick the PAT. There's a chart coaches use that tells when you should go for 2, not sure if the coaches followed it or they went against it when they made that decision. But HS coaches sometimes make bone headed decisions.

Nah. He had just one PAT that was blocked. Coach Logan went for low-probability 2-pt conversion plays twice anyway. That's just chutzpah, or dumb decisions, I don't know which. In any case, he lost both times. What a shock. @@shrekcbo

Not so sure about that... MD is deep. Bosco will have its hands full with MD, as per usual. But I sure as hell wouldn't underestimate them.

@terencedoherty3049 MD has more talent than Bosco, it's actually not close talent wise. Last game, they got bullied trying to be a finesse team. Hopefully one of their running backs will be available, but all 3 backs hurt its a wrap. Maybe because I just think their QB is average. We'll see I'm rooting for them.

All of them. They are low probability plays, as are going for it on 4th and long, as is an onside kick. Only 10% of those ever work. Cen10 got big time lucky with that one, but that luck never holds, as we saw with the 2pt conversions. @@eltoroloco1936

They DO have a kicker, and he showed up too. On that one punt on 4th and 10 from their own 20, he kicked it 70 yards. That's not why they don't kick. The reason is because they think that's the way to play because they are a fast-paced high-scoring offense, and falsely assume that this will work against everybody, even the best teams. Well, they aren't really, as we saw when they played quality teams like SJB, MD and Gorman. Those last two they never scored more than 28 points.
