Wonderful story. I sing at the Holy Virgin Cathedral in San Francisco and I am so priveleged to be able to. I get to venerate St Johns relics every time I am there. It's extremely powerful. My father was his alter boy and when St. John died my dad was given his "sluzhebnik" (prayer book). I get to read from it from time to time. I recently had a miracle which I attribute to St. John. In August of last year I was living in Truckee (near Lake Tahoe) and my dog ran away. Why is this scary? Truckee is coyote country and if a dog goes missing you never see it again. And Kirky is a little dude. 6 pounds. At first I became angry with God because this would be the second dog I have lost in 5 years under similar circumstances. "Why again, God!" My uncle Peter quickly corrected me and said to pray to St. John. The next morning my dog was waiting outside. He had survived the night. There is no doubt St John is powerful and will help you defy all odds.
Sr Anastasia we talked on the phone and you told me to try to get a letter of prayer request to St. John's relics at His Church in San Francisco and I have now sent the letter thank you and St. John will be my Patron Saint

Although I Didn't Have A Car , Out of Pure Curiosity I Went to the Back of The Church To See Who These 2 Nuns Were ! I Was Surprised to See How Young They Were !!...However Their Religious Habits Did Not Look Familiar to Me ! So Consequently I Asked Them What Religious Order Did They Belong To ? And Then One of Them ( You Sister !! ) Exclaimed We Are Russian ORTHODOX !!!....I WAS STUNNED THAT 2 ORTHODOX NUNS WOULD BE IN A ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH !!! ( That Was the First Miracle !! ) Now What These 2 ORTHODOX Nuns Did Not Know , Was That ONLY 5 Months Earlier , I HAD RECENTLY DISCOVERED On Utube , While Browsing For Contemporary SaintsTHE INCREDIBLE LIFE of Saint John Maximovich , THE GREAT BISHOP OF SHANGHAI AND SAN FRANCISCO . God bless you! I converted to Orthodoxy back in my college years after taking a couple of courses in early Christian history and after my own private encounter with God and the Orthodox Church! At any rate, my entire family and wife converted to Holy Orthodoxy about a year later. We received Holy Chrismation in a Russian Orrhodox Church under the Moscow Patriarchate by a holy priest who was Mexican born, Fr. Ramon Merlos. We felt right at home! Jesus Christ Conquers! Sister I come across your blog about st John.. because I search st John because he is helping white Russian refugees in Philippines..1949 -51...from sad days in China. No one accept 6000 Russians in the world only our country...he was with them from China... And I am amazed his life praying in us..Congress gate for the refugees freed. To back to europe...and that is miraculously..blessed and heared.by god..it's a miracle saint...btw...I am now healing..person.hope u give me your oil..to heal people even little I mix it to.my oils...thank you

I'm confused. Why were Russian Orthodox nuns at a Catholic Cathedral promoting Orthodoxy? I love Orthodoxy but this is proselytising. This causes tensions which are not needed.
Please, listen the story of miracle, and not pick up separate words. We are not nuns, we are lay missionaries, and secondly we have never caused any tensions, our presence and story of our Convent is already a preach but without any reproach or invasion. Who have ears, hear!
