@@CJCappella We can hold a powhiri anywhere, on a Marae the rule's are different. Potae/hat's can be worn outside. In the actual Marae, whare tipuna, hats off out of respect for our tipuna. This particular powhiri was held in a school gym
It is simply bad manners from European etiquette for men to wear their hats indoors. Any self-respecting kaumatua would not do this in the olden days. It frequently happens nowadays, ever since base-ball caps, worn back-to-front, became fashionable - black American influence.
