It’s funny, we grew up just hours away and have driven past it a hundred times and never stopped to take the tour. I told my wife, we definitely need to stop by next time we’re in Missouri :)

The "upgrades" are pretty awful. My last visit last month was the first time back in years. It was MUCH better prior, you could go up with no limitations in returning to the bottom, it wasn't sectioned off to North and South, the new entry is boring. There is no access to the movie showing how it was built. The museum is gone. Now there's a cafe, oh boy. I'll never take out of town guests again.

my great grandpa was also part of the construction. my still-living grandpa has one of the window panels from the original arch given to him as a gift from his dad. that same grandpa also helped build the locker rooms for the new Busch Stadium. This got me the opportunity to meet Bill DeWitt III when i was just 12 years old. Got to sit in his office and shake his hand. He gave me a Matt Holliday Jersey and bat. Good times 👍🏽

If you come here with kids the city museum is a must visit, but bring water, knee and elbow pads, and possibly helmets. Especially if you’re gonna go into the cave which you will get lost in. Go early in the day and get an all day pass. It’s genuinely so much fun

I was born in St. Louis 72yrs ago. I was in grade school, K-8, while it was being built. The fear of the Arch falling into the Mississippi River was often spoken about. Thank goodness it never happened. Every Sunday our dad and mom would take us for a Sunday drive. We would go to the Arch to see it's rise higher by the week. We would watch the Admiral, a large daily excursion, boat launch. Then it was onto the airport to watch the planes arrive and take off. Then, back to the river front to watch the Admiral land. In this Sunday, family time, we never stopped once for a beverage or treat. Try that with your kids these days. 🤪

I grew up in the STL area! Something not mentioned in the video is that there is a absolutely amazing completely free interactive museum beneath the ground under the arch!!! It's super interesting and has a lot of fun information about the history of the area, and the architecture and building of the arch itself! And although it does cost a small amount, there's also a wonderful movie. You can go watch while there. That's less than a half hour long and about the construction of the arch and is absolutely fascinating! I'd also recommend going to the St. Louis zoo traditional emission is completely free and it's considered one of the best free zoos in the entire country!

Since I was born here and lived here my whole life yes I have. As matter of fact as a kid I watched it being built on a school field trip. I only lived a couple miles from there. Nowadays I'm living back downtown which is still only a couple miles away. All the times I've been up there I never recall anyone making us get back on the tram. I stayed up there as long as I wished. However after 10 minutes you start to get bored anyway that's plenty of time😮 it's still to this day the biggest man-made monument in the country and surprisingly no one died building it😮
