This autoplayed after a previous video and didn't bother changing it - saw David Childs and left it on. Didn't realise it was 25 mins of pure awesomeness from both himself and the orchestra. Euphoniums high up in the register just sound the best (and that's from a trombone player!)
They were probably high school band teachers who were never able to perform so well in concert them selves! I know a few of them. One in Northern Virginia and one in South-Eastern Virginia!
Superb performance! Wow. Amazing technique, outstanding sound and a great example of how to make a euphonium "sing". I am always amazed when I hear David play. Also, wonderful accompaniment and a really great piece of music from Johan De Meij
Finest euphonium performance I've ever heard - virtuosity beyond measure! Thanks for blessing my ears with such incredible musicality David. The wind orchestras performance was truly amazing too! Hats off to all of you.
I had the same experience as Aytron Hockaday; I had never heard of the piece and wouldn't have sought it out except that it came up on autoplay after another euphonium RU-vid. What an excellent piece of music! Child's comfort in the extreme ranges is extraordinary and the wind ensemble is absolutely superb. I also agree with several other listeners about the less than thunderous applause at the end; perhaps the audience had all just had surgeries and were under the influence of sedatives. What would be nice is to know what brand of horn Mr. Childs is playing?
@@Leisesturm Many thanks for the information. Nice to know, though a player as masterful as Mr. Childs could probably sound fabulous blowing on a piece of junk.
seriously, what is wrong with this audience? I don't think that there is anyone who can perform that concerto like David, and they are applauding as if they played a simple choral. I would have gone crazy at the end!!
This audience doesn't believe in UFOs or the quality musicians that would play a concerto with it's name!? David's a great euphonium player! I wish I would of had him as an instructor when I started playing euphonium back at age twelve! Thank you St.M T W O for sharing this video with us on RU-vid!
