Merry Christmas Lea! This video brought back many memories of skiing with my wife when she was alive. I was drawn to my wife before we where married because she loved to ski. Little did I know that she would be more of a skiing fanatic then me. Thanks for the memories. John in Washington state USA
I learnt to ski at St Moritz over 30 years ago and ‘found it again’ after skiing around Europe and USA.. Am booked for my 11th trip there in 4 weeks time - always stay at the Monopol. An absolutely beautiful skiing resort and my favourite. Just watch the credit card bills…..
I'd love to go to Switzerland. But most of the time it's cheaper to fly to the other side of the world. 😮 Unless you go somewhere like Cervinia or Avoriaz and go over the border.
What a lovely video. Thank you. I have many wonderful memories of skiing there with my wife and my mother-in-law, having been on two occasions. Travelling from the U.K. we would fly into Zurich, then take the snow train to St Moritz. On both occasions we stayed at the hotel Schweizerhof. The hotel would send a bourse drawn carriage to collect us from the train station. This was the most amazing way to arrive. We are all very keen skiers but would explore the area after the slopes and into the evening. Having skied for fourth years I can say that St Moritz is one of the best places to ski in the world, if not the best. Thank you again for sharing this video.
Moritz is more than just a holiday resort. It was also the birthplace of Alpine winter tourism (in 1864) and has twice hosted the Winter Olympics. Nevertheless, St. Moritz first became famous thanks to its mineral springs, which were discovered 3,000 years ago and established the town as a summer spa resort early on.
Out of the 141 resorts I have visited St Moritz and Zermatt stand out as my all time best resorts. Zermatt has trains as some of its chairlifts and that is a rarity in any skiing resort plus it is the highest and linked with Cervinia of Italy. St Moritz wins on ambience and there is no mistake it is a premium resort by any standard relative to any country. Aspen is also an expensive resort with similar ambience but its architecture is basically a typical cowboy era town. In St Moritz you know you have arrived at one the top skiing resort in the world. You don't get the same feeling in St Anton/Lech, Ischgl or any of the French or Italian resort. For terrain I would classify St Moritz as "enjoyable" which is the correct image for this type of resorts as no rich guy would hell bend to do extreme and difficult skiing. It was three large ski areas which are not linked unless you do some seriously long offpiste and that I think is unidirectional. One feature of St Moritz is it has several large lakes! When the St Moritz lake at the centre is frozen and white the snow-sure resort is a paradise with unbelievable beauty. Thus the world's biggest cross country skiing takes part on St Moritz lake annually. Due to its location rather difficult to get to (by car), expensive 4 and 5 star hotels properly equipped with high class restaurants the place is for well-to-do visitors. It is therefore clean, very well kept, people are well dressed and expensive mink coats are more common than other resorts. As the video author said the place has a large number of designer shops. St Moritz has been the venue for two early winter Olympic in 1928 and 1948. The Olympic run is quite ordinary by today standard but I did have my most memorable run in Piz Nair
I have been to St. Moritz twice - once as a kid and the second time staying at the Palace. Thanks for bringing back some memories. And the drone footage is beautiful!
Omg omg omg... how beautiful is yr video!! I am frm Bengaluru, India. Loved watching the beautiful slopes, skiing and yr sweet smiling face.🙏 Thanks tons n tons for St. Moritz...all new to me
What a beautiful area. If I had that in my back yard I might enjoy skiing. But alas my destiny is to shovel snow from my driveway while dreaming about warmer weather. Merry Christmas.
😂😂😂 I am happy that I don’t share your destiny - living close to a lake I very rarely have snow in my driveway due to humidity. Merry Christmas to you too!
Great video. looks awesome! I am planning a trip to Europe to ski next year, I could not decide where to go until I saw your video's of the Engadin Valley. Thanks!
Völlig unerwartet an Green Christmas (nicht wirklich überraschend 😫) eine klasse und sehr charmante St. Moritz Doku UND Lustmacher Tiefschneeperspektiven. 👏 Happy Christmas 🙋♂️

I hope so too! I am trying to be really careful, especially while traveling. All the best to beautiful NZ - I hope I will be able to visit this place at one point !
Hello Lea! Thanks to share your trip to this beautiful gorgeous place! One day I will take my wife to ski in Switzerland one day. Happy New year! Hope to see more videos from Switzerland, thank you!!!
Hi Lea, klasse Video und schön den schweizer Winter zu sehen. We are in Austria in February for skiing. Such amazing landscape and gorgeous pictures. ☺️👍 Love it. ❄️⛷️❄️❤️ Maybe we visit St. Moritz once. ☺️ Thanks for that amazing video. Have a happy, safe and healthy Christmas time. ❄️⛷️❄️🎄🎅🎄❄️☃️❄️🌟💫✨
Thanks for this Lea and for all your other videos this year. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and all the followers of the channel. I hope you can keep taking us to these breathtaking places.👍👍👍👏👏🇬🇧
So So much prettier in its winter scene for sure. I rode through St Moritz in the summer and it was nice but you are so right its beauty blossoms in the winter. Wow! It reminds me of how some of our National Parks and their living nature outshines with winter blankets. Absolutely stunning Great Video!!
Since I visitied St moritz in wintertime as well the summer in the engadin Valley grew on me massively - like you I always thought it’s “nice” but nothing special. Meanwhile I love it, no matter which season!
Happy Christmas Lea and your travel partner. Wow, simply stunning, fantastic cinematography, now we are stuck, east for the Pyrenees and Andorra or west for the Alps, Switzerland and Austria, hurry up summer.
I can only imagine how beautiful and gorgeous those places can be in spring and summer, when all Nature is blooming, smelling and singing .. when everything around is alive. I hate winter .. snow and ice .. skiing and living in cold climate, lol. However, it's a great video to create such special Christmas mood .. especially St. Moritz street views .. old houses .. cozy coffee shops and bakeries full of warmth and lights. For some reason most of the people find falling snow and hoarfrost to be something special .. a Winter Wonderland .. for nature it is a time of death, though .. cruel and merciless struggle for survival. Thank you for your time and effort .. stay safe and well!!
It’s not only death and survival in my opinion - the snow is so important for the mountains to fill all the creeks, Rivers and lakes again when melting, as well many of the plants growing there need the winter season as they are made for this and then can come back in full bloom in spring. The cycle of nature. I actually really like all seasons - but the ones where it’s only cold and rainy the least! 😂
Thank you for this gift, Lea, it was choice. If there's one thing I love more than Alpine skiing it's cross-country skiing, so next week I will be watching and grinning. Merry Christmas to you and yours. (No snow here yet, so I am still blasting around on the ancient Honda in frigid temperatures and loving it.)
Omg, you will probably laugh about my cross country skiing skills. They are basically non existent 😂😂😂😂 I hoped nobody would realize because nobody would know how to do it either. 😅😂
I was confused by the timeline at first also, but you kept this simply for later. And now is the time and it is beautiful. I have been skiing also at the Porte du soleil. Not at your level though. The scenery is stunning and the filming accordingly. Thanks for letting us go with you.
Thank you so much! Yes, it’s sometimes hard with the timing - posting this video last year in March or April would have just felt weird. And working as a journalist for magazines and newspapers I as well am used to making the Christmas stories a year in advanace - it’s very rare to get good snowy pictures before Christmas in December anymore. So I hope you guys can live with the confusion - and join me for another snowy espidode next week before we return to the motorcycle journey! 🤗 Merry Christmas to you!
Once again a spectacular video, beautifully shot. Skiing is definitely not for me but I'm happy to see the beauty of the area on my pc screen. Merry Christmas and thank you for sharing.
Happy New Year. Wow those mountain views are amazing. How cold was it up there? -12°? Not too bad for the drone? That snake road looks dangerously fun. I love skiing. The base town looks gorgeous. Might be too expensive for me. But man it looks worth it. The mountain views are fantastic. Skiwasser, sounds refreshing. Gotta get up for the fresh pow pow. Awesome video.
St Moritz , surlej , sils maria , engadin valley, this is outstanding. And such a good skier!! Reminds of the movie “ clouds of Sils Maria”. Just as good as this episode. Switzerland and the alp’s truly a four season place.
Our guests from Luxury Travel Switzerland 🇨🇭 love the sophisticated St. Moritz and the luxurious 5-star hotels with fine food and fine wines. The beautiful landscape with Lake St. Moritz and the beautiful mountains are absolutely unique ❤.
I like that your videos are not just motorcycles (although that is my big interest). You do a great job at sharing adventures to places I may not get to visit. Thanks again.
Thank you for writing that - and I am very happy that you appreciate it! Knowing that most people are here on the channel for the motorcycling (and therefore the motorcycle videos mostly click better/ have more views/ bigger ad revenues) I sometimes get a bit discouraged by posting other videos - but then I really think these places are too awesome to not share them, only because they don’t have a motorcycle involved. And: it’s awesome that it’s my own channel and not a motorcycle channel I am working for - because I can trick all you motorcycle people into watching the one or other thing unrelated to bikes as well if I hide it nicely 😂😂😂
Merry Christmas and happy new year to you both. Thanks for showing us around the beautiful St Moritz area and all of the other places your journeys have taken you this year. Cheers 🥂🍷🍷
Merry Christmas to you lea rick that is awesome vlog forever .i like winter ❄️ weather very much and you are i st.moriz that was excellent view of 🎿 that's like paradise on earth 🌎 love you from me and my family . once again a merry Christmas 🎄🎄
You are wonderful!!! I have spent months there. I am a professional ski instructor here in the usa. I belong to the International Ski Instructor Association. I have spent months in France, Switzerland and all of Europe. St Moritz, Beautiful gentle skiing .....
St.Moritz is alround year vacation destination depent you wanna do in your vacation. When you visit the Engadin Vally, you have to try also local food, like Maluns, Capuns, Engadin Nusstorte ( Engadin Nut Tart, and of course a Swiss Chess Fondue. St.Moritz was named after after Saint Maurice, an early Christian saint from southern Egypt said to have been martyred in 3rd century Roman Switzerland while serving as General of the Theban Legion. When you travel with the car over the Julierpass, you will see also Roman Road Pols, left on right of the street. Thats was a trade road in the Roman Empire. The Julierpass was namend to the Honor of Julius Caeser.
Great cinematography and narration as usual! Love'd this video as it reminded me of my skiing trips there many years ago now. Great town but too upscale for me --- almost prefer Zermatt town and nearby Davos is my favorite for skiing. From my apartment in Geneva, I could be on the slopes within an hour at Flaine, France ( Le Grand Massif)--- great ski area visited mostly by the locals. Thanks again for the great videos on moto and skiis!
I have never visited that one - maybe I have to try that out at one point too! If skiing in st moritz I definitely don’t want to really stay there in town - for me it’s the small villages that don’t have so many hotels (and therefore more locals). But I have to admit that the engadin valley grew on me massively. In the beginning I didn’t like it at all (as well didn’t like it too much on a bike in summer), but meanwhile I am in love. It’s one of my favorite places…
