From Mexico with love and respect. Long live 🇮🇪 VIVA El batallón de San Patricio! We will never forget our brothers who fought and died alongside us. Thank you.
@@tonydiablo6976Viva los San Patricios! The US needs that same spirit of the San Patricios now more than ever, it is time for men of moral conviction to take their stand, even at the face of death!
I had three great uncles in the NYPD, five uncles in the NYPD and one in Boston. I now have 10 Cousins in the NYPD. Those three Great uncles set off for New York in 1942 on the same boat from Dublin.
The good old days back in New York City on St Patrick's day parade watching the police band emerald society band watching up fifth avenue at one time the parade used the end at 96th Street and 3rd avenue it was a big Irish neighborhood at that time back in the 40s and 50s up to the '60s there's nothing like it after the parade we would go to the Irish pubs on 3rd avenue and celebrate all night and have a wonderful time those days are never forgotten ❤️🇨🇮💯🍀🎶🍀
Errr no and I'm indigenous Irish. I'm ashamed. Where do feather bonnets, spats, horsehair sporrans and highland bagpipes belong? With a Scots man. Give me a caubeen, buckled brogues. Saffron kilt and Brian Boru bagpipes. Embarrassing.
The uniforms are copies of Scottish and British Army Pipe Bands, the only Irish bits are the green sashes, green hackles and Saffron Plaids but well done to the Pipers and Drummers for their great playing.🇬🇧🇺🇸
@@GuineamickThe only things Irish are the Green Hackles, Green Sashes and Saffron kilts, the rest are Scottish and British Army uniforms, hope you celebrate St Andrew’s Day with equal enthusiasism however well done, great band and a great parade.
oddly enough the st patricks day parades started off as as walk by presbyterian/protestant ulster-scots in boston. it was purely a walk the they adopted the british military fifes and drums. then the later catholic irish were allowed to join. then the now americans adopted the scottish military pipes and drums.
Emerald society pipes and drums? Are they supposed to be Irish pipers??? Because they are wearing Scots bearskins, Scots tunics, Scots kilts and Sporrans and Scots pipers shoes. But worse, they are playing Scottish pipes. Mmm very authentic Irish pipe band
@@BaronB sorry grant, not sure what i was replying to there, i think i was going to direct people who might want to know back to the dal riada 1500 or so years ago
The Irish were looked down upon by American society. The only jobs they could get were policeman, fireman, sanitation workers, and soldier/sailors. The Irish built the Erie Canal, cleared the reclaimed land in the bayous, died in the thousands building the railroads across this country, and serving in teh US Cavalry fighting native americans. The Irish, the Scottish, and the Chinese. Their lives were of no consequence. How far the Irish have come. Unrelated, but interesting, as those British that settle in Northern Ireland are dying that population is now more Catholics than Protestants. Count on a vote for reunification in the future.
@@tiocfaidharla6750 look at what they’re wearing and then look at pipers in the British army or any Scottish pipes and drums. Everything about this is Scottish
Shows how little the US knows about Ireland. These men are marching down the street wearing Scottish kilts, playing Scottish tunes on Scottish bagpipes. The only thing that’s even remotely Irish is the green. Even the bonnets and bearskin hats are Scottish.
This form of bagpipe playing is not Irish, it's Scottish. Jesus take a look at what they're wearing for the love of God. Plenty of great stuff to celebrate if your Irish American - this isn't yours I'm afraid.
Let me tell you as a Glaswegian in Glasgow the Irish and the scots are very close we have stuck together and cut from the same cloth if it wasn't the Irish who got to America first believe me the scots would have been not far behind so if you visit Scotland or Ireland you. will be so welcome smiles from GLASGOW xxxxxx❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😢😢
This is true cultural appropriation of Scottish culture!! You don't see the Irish in the Republic of Ireland so this! They aren't Ignorant as the Americans, they know their own culture and it's not Scottish.
So many symbols of Scotland on St Patrick day?! Huh 🙄🤷 I am from Scotland and we don't celebrate St Patrick's day. Why are you waaring sporrins, flashes, hose, Kilt pins, Highland Bagpipes (marked by the 3 drones), tam o shanters, even British bear skin hats! All Scottish not Irish! Contrary to what Americans think, Scottish and Irish culture is NOT interchangeable!!! The answer is not Scots-Irish! They would never celebrate St Patrick's Day because they are not Catholic, they are Protestant. St Patrick day is a Catholic holiday why would any right minded Scots-Irish (Ulster Scots) celebrate it!! The orange sash represented Protestants NOT Catholics. You people have it so backwards, you don't even know what you are celebrating!!
This is embarrassing. Trust the Americans to dress as Scottish pipe bandsmen in the British army and have they play on St Patrick’s day and call them Irish 🤣🤣
@@Yehnah677 bagpipes/kilts/fiddle and fiddle reel music/ceilidths and ceilidth reel music/stepdance /mac/mcs and o prefixes and more adopted from scotland by irish nationalists who wanted to distance themselves from the colonial english. irish music as we see it today alang with many scots and english sangs adopted by the fledgling irish bands i.e the clancies in the late 50s,the dubliners in 62 ,the furies in the 70s.....i know because i was around then.
tranceman22 The difference being the orange parades are just oozing with bigots and drunken louts, no culture at all they only exist in the bigoted part of Ireland, go and travel the world and you will get your eyes opened
@For god and Ulster your name says it all, I’m surprised you can spell God, most of you bigots are usually illiterate, do you even know who God is? As a matter of fact I bet you’re not even Irish you’re a bigoted Scotsman, you talk about the royal irish, who the hell are they? Have you seen the parade in New York on Saint Patrick’s day? If you haven’t then keep your bigoted opinions to yourself
Mickley mouse March 12 July how could you compare that to St Patrick day parade new York you horrible bitter orange man you will never beat the Irish thorough ar la
@@paulwalsh9112 it's tiocfaidh ar la... And don't judge people by your own bitter bigotry. Mickley mouse... 🤣🤣. I'll bet you don't even know the significance of the date or where Patrick was from.
@@petesy03 you're showing your own ignorance. There's plenty of bigots at republican marches. St.Patrick's day is a religious holiday that had only minor observance in Ireland up until the 1980's. It's the American plastic paddies who have turned it into an excuse to get pissed up. Do you even know the significance of the date and where Patrick was from?... no Google cheating. @For god and Ulster Yeah a common mistake made by Americans, one of many common ones, the term is scots-irish. Americans often refer to scots as scotch and so when it came to talking about scots irish they of course once again mislabelled them "scotch irish", im not sure why its so tough for Americans to just accept they dont get to decide everything in the world especially when it comes to other nations/cultures....
If paras it what I think you mean, you refer to Bloody Sunday in the Northern Ireland where innocent people were killed by the English paras - If so, your a supporter of Murderers.
Resplendent in the uniform of a Scottish Highland soldier playing Scottish Great Highland Bagpipes- not at all Irish, slight cultural confusion going on here!!
Why are our Scottish cousins always jealous of how big and popular the Irish are in the USA? I have seen a lot of comments coming from them and an awful lot of them aren’t afraid to show or just can’t hide their jealousy
The full monty the Irish don’t have a New York pipe band with big quality to sqeel As per usual the Irish look at things As per usual the Irish see something that’s good and talented if they look at it long enough they claim It as there own, best wishes from Glasgow.
