Over 50 years ago I was playing this song sung by Bob Dylan only to find my dad had been listening. He simply said, "That young man speaks a lot of sense". I had no idea what he meant .... I was a teenager and therefore the rebel. It wasn't until decades later, after my dad had died, that I learnt he'd been "volunteered" for a Squadron to fly, unarmed, over Japan to look for the equivalent of D-Day landing sites, and "suitable" nuclear bomb sites. I wish I'd talked to him more about his time in Bomber Command, but I do remember him urging me not to join the armed forces in peace time as the Government would almost certainly order me to do something against my conscience. RIP dad - miss your wisdom.
