The St. Pete Pier Grand Opening was from July 6th to the 12th in 2020!
We were able to visit the day before it opened for a sneak peek. Come with us on our preview tour of the brand new St Petersburg Pier. Join us as we explore the 26-acre waterfront playground featuring the Marketplace, Bending Arc, Discovery Center, Kids’ Playground and over five acres of green space. We also include footage from a few of the great options for food and drinks including Doc Ford’s, Teak, and Pier Teaki.

We ride the tram, eat a custom made pizza from the Spa Beach Bistro, talk about the music and craft beer, and view the "Bending Arc" exhibit by Janet Echelman at night.

Thank you so much. The opening of the pier was a big deal for the city and we were so thankful to be invited to check it out before the grand opening :) We haven't thought about a kayak buyers guide yet, I don't think we have tried enough different ones to be very helpful yet ;)

hot as hades during the summer days. not enough shade provided. nothing special to see or do that you cant do everywhere else in fl. eateries are the same as most other places. the view is nice but you get the same view in any of the parks surrounding the pier. millions spent on this when the money could have been spent revitalizing major areas of st pete that are falling apart, stores closed (before covid) neighborhoods run down, empty houses, panhandlers, etc...but downtown keeps building million dollar condos & the pier. ?!

We certainly cannot argue with you about the heat on the pier in the summer. We've found a few shady spots that are usually tolerable in the summer heat, but no doubt the pier could benefit from some more shade trees.

What a view from the restaurant. That is nice they made use of the solar panels for shade. Wonder if they will have those events now. You have been so great to our channel. Just know we appreciated all that you do for us.

We were really impressed with environmental initiatives, including the solar panels. We are waiting to find out what events they will have. So far the events I am aware of are al ticketed and in the open spaces to ensure social distancing. We appreciate your support as well :)

Is there parking closer to the fishing pier side? Looks like miles of walking to get there

The closest parking lot to the Pier head is the Pelican Lot (next to Doc Ford's restaurant). From there it's still a 1,000 foot walk or so, but you can hop on one of the trams if you are unable to or prefer not to walk that far.

@@Explorcation Oh wow yes I bet at night it's amazing! Yeah it's all about just timing the crowds now. We have a (domestic) trip starting at the end of next week and are in the process of shifting our body clocks to wake up much earlier so we can beat the crowds and leave when places yet busy! The Architects construction workers did an amazing job not an easy feat to build what they did all the concrete out on the water my hat goes off to all of them and the politicians they did something good

We’ve been to the new St Pete Pier several times now. It’s definitely one of my fave spots to take the kids! I’ve done a couple videos of us visiting. Haven’t been in the little discovery center yet, but that’s my next stop! My littlest one LOVES the playground!

Yeah we really were impressed with the options for free entertainment for kids (playground, beach, and splash pad). We can't wait to take our nieces and nephews when they visit! We really enjoyed the discovery center too.

Fishing spot looks small. It was mainly used for fishing before demolished.

We unfortunately didn't get to experience the old pier so are not sure how the fishing areas compare. We have heard great things about the old pier too and wish we would have been able to visit it.
