St. Philip Neri was born in Florence on July 21, 1515. He was a Christian missionary and founder of the Congregation of the Oratory.
At 18-years-old, Philip went to live with a wealthy family member in San Germano to assist in business. But soon after, he experienced a mystical vision, considered his Christian conversion.
He lost interest in business and felt a call from the Holy Spirit. So, he set out for Rome.
During his first two years in Rome, he spent his time in a solitary life, dedicating a lot of time to prayer.
In 1535, Philip began studying at the Sapienza and at St. Augustine's monastery. However, after three years, he set out to help the poor and re-evangelize the city.
He had a knack for starting up conversations and leading his listeners to the Christian Way of life.
In 1548, with the help of his confessor, Philip founded the Confraternity of the Most Holy Trinity for poor laymen to meet for spiritual exercises and service of the poor.
Philip's appealing nature won him friends from all societal levels, including that of Ignatius of Loyola and Charles Borromeo.
Philip was ordained to the priesthood in May 1551.
A large room was built above the church of San Girolamo to tend to Philip's growing number of pilgrims. Philip and the other priests were soon called the "Oratorians," because they would ring a bell to call the faithful in their "oratory."
The foundation for the Congregation of the Priests of the Oratory was officially approved in 1575.
Philip whole-heartedly desired the reform of the Catholic Church. His efforts to reach out to the lay people made him one of the great figures in the Counter Reformation of the Catholic Church and he soon earned the title, "Apostle of Rome."
On May 26, 1595, Philip suffered from a hemorrhage and passed away.
St. Philip Neri was beatified in 1615 and canonized in 1622.
He is the patron saint of Rome, US Special Forces, humor and joy. His feast day is celebrated on May 26.

Every morning Before going to work In Barcelona Spain -a century ago A quiet man of disheveled mein Attended mass at St. Phillip church received communion and then went off to work. Wandering one day Deep in the abstractions necessary to his calling, He stepped off the curb and was hit by a tram. No one knew who he was -from his attire, he seemed like a man-of-the-street. They took him to the beggars hospital, where he languished for a number of days. One day a visiting priest saw the man - and was stunned. ¡¿Don't you know who this man is?! - the priest exclaimed ; Quick consultation was held, and the man was rushed to a better hospital, But alas, to no avail. The man died And was mourned And rightly so Because the poor man-of-the-street was Antonio Gaudí, architect. -a man too committed to his calling to spend much time with his appearance or public figure. The abstractions which he was wrestling with, at the time of the accident, were geometrical complexities pertaining to the church he was building. Sagrada Familia church, in Barcelona, Spain. You can visit that church if you want. - it is coming near completion now. -but if you do, and you respect the man that created it, You may also honor him by attending mass at St. Phillip Neri church, in the square of that name. (centrally located in the Gothic district) 6:15am or 9:00am daily. -a very worthy mark on your itinerary if you come and visit. You are invited Please come God desires a structure even more glorious in your soul. You can have that in communion At church Today. Come to Barcelona when you can. God bless you. 🕊️

For the Glory of God & in honor of St. Philip Neri, I encourage everyone to visit the "Iglesia de la Concordia" meaning concord or fraternity in Puebla, Mexico. Look for Rev. Father Alejandro Cabrera. There is definitely the Grace/Spirit of Joy in this church! This church, built in the 1500's, was realized through the efforts and leadership of St. Neri himself! In one of the humongous, antique paintings back in the sacristy, it depicts the Saint receiving the funds from Rome to build the church. However, at present, this beautiful church is in need of renovation. The scaffoldings are unmoved because they could not proceed due to lack of funds. Please visit this church or support them by way of funds and/or prayers.

Praying/summoning to the dead is sorcery. Its called necromancy. Its a sin.
