St. Vincent simply has the audacity to embrace the 'pretentious/hipster' label so many people describe her to be. She's clearly having fun with it. It was clearly an irony especially with some of the ridiculous things she said and also considering Pitchfork's reputation. At the end of the day, she gets the last laugh.

I'm so sick of the word pretentious. If someone doesn't talk in the most "normal" way or play the same four chords PRETENTIOUS! If someone wears "weird" clothes PRETENTIOUS! If someone is being artistic PRETENTIOUS. Were The Beatles pretentious? Was Dali pretentious? This is so over done.
