One of the big things I noticed and loved about this event is the fact that other competitors were also enjoying it as spectators. Normal surf comps someone catches a wave racks up a score, then paddles as quick as possible to get back into the line up to catch another wave. They could care less about watching their competitor while in the water. Throughout this video you catch guys just either standing after a run to watch someone else or while they paddling back out they take their time watching other guys ride. Just all around great event. Would love to be a part of it.

City-surfing is obviously the next big thing in Surfing. Up here, we surf the cold Baltic Sea in 4,5,6 mm wetsuits, hoods and booties. It is hard to surf the real Ocean/Sea. Shout-outs from Poland to you guys at Stab High and the Perfect swell tech👏🔥🏄🏼

I'm surprised it took so long for surfers to bring the wave pool tech into fruition, but now that they have- this sport is gonna start turning out some craaaaaaziness and I for one, cannot wait.

nothing short of jaw dropping from the pool to the talent.....what will be unique to watch will be the progression...I say it will go backwards in a sense compared to the sports that have influenced these moves. On a fluid platform spinning etc is a great way to get gravity to help you.....what I hope to see is as the progression ramps up, is riders doing cleaner and cleaner straight airs like tail grabs or exaggerated crails, these seem more difficult they will require the most balance and vision....cant wait to see some Chris Miller style nose bones 5ft above a 3ft wave.....but already this is completely astounding to me....

That's messed up, but I got most excited during this video when i seen that Sky Brown was at that event. That girl is so cool. And when she finally grows out of her kid body and matures, with her competitive nature she's gonna be a beast. And her little brother will probably follow right behind her.

They aren't being pulled in and can't use it like us wakeboarders. We use the wake more like a trampoline than a jump. Loading the rope. Surfers will never get that high. To bad though. I am heading to lemore. I think I know that guy. We had some wakeboard contests out there. It use to be 2 waterski lakes out by the palace casino.

It's very cool and I love it but it will never gain broad appeal. I don't know why but surfing had its zenith in the early 2000's and even that was a mystery. It will remain niche from here on in, as great as it is.

Man, seeing some of the sickest surfing and then suddenly you see women who have lost all their dignity, showing their bodies to the world like whores. No wonder we have a divorce rate of nearly 50% and all kinds of kids growing up without dads and moms. May God have compassion and open their eyes. Really too bad, I can’t watch the rest of this because I fear God and I love my wife.

Cool event, but hope you will consider making room to invite people from underrepresented communities in the next editions, not a single non-white person in a 23 minutes clip is quite telling about the state of our sport.

No one is preventing or discriminating against black and other minority people competing in surfing contests. It's just that surfing isn't a sport that they gravitate toward.

@@l.rongardner2150 Have you considered why they don't gravitate toward it? Culturally and historically surfing was mostly reserved to well-off white people. Can we do something to change this and encourage more people from underrepresented communities to take on surfing? By for example inviting more of the talented colored surfers (they exist) to these kind of competitions to slowly change the image of our sport. Or giving a few free tickets in poor communities around Waco so a few of them can come and watch this and maybe get excited about surfing, and start talking about it with their friends etc.
