A few years ago, my car broke down. I had to take the bus and the train....after about a month of my experiences on the metro...I can confidently say...it inspired me to get another car SO FAST.

Apparently the city doesn't care about people's safety. They just want to use you up.

The problem is the DA's refusal to prosecute these crimes and the State not wanting it's citizen to protective themselves or others. If a bystander stepped in to help the victim, I can guarantee they will be prosecuted harder than the criminal. If you help, you'll end up like the Daniel Penny, charged for murder and in jail.

It's terrible when innocent people get hurt. You couldn't pay me enough to ride the metro...I haven't been on it for years because it's just too sketchy & scary.

As someone who solely rides LA metro (and carries pepper spray), it is an amazing system. I can say Corruption is an even larger problem than the homeless. The fact that LA taxpayers pay the salaries of these council members that do nothing to improve safety to the standard that they would themselves choose to ride is literally criminal! Why have a world class system that is basically a moving hotel for the homeless and a place for criminals to prey on people? Fix this

I've been using the metro for years. I respect the officers and appreciate their service but the cops don't really come inside the trains, they just hang out together not riding inside the train.... especially not around when it's the most dangerous times like at night. I would say don't have your back turned to the crazy people keep your distance if someone is acting strange and switch to another part of the train if things seem unsafe.

Who's the biggest criminals on metro? Probably those who fare evade, stop them from getting on and you're 80% of the way there. And yeah, it's a transportation system, not a god damn flop house to sleep off a bender.

Why is this so hard? Non-paying riders should not be allowed to use the train as a shelter! Harden the entry points and actively check tickets. Eject fare evaders from trains and stations. Bums, crazies and drug addicts don't buy tickets. Why does Metro not understand this basic concept?

Totally agree with her, the culture needs to change too. They need to look at Europe. Europe long time a go declared it an emergency and deployed the military. Kick out the homeless if they aren't traveling anywhere and require the homelesd with severe mental illnesses to have an escort. You'll say the homeless also have rights, etc, BUT 99% of the time the homeless aren't really traveling anywhere. They spend the entire day going in loops in the trains harassing, threatening and scaring the normal people who should be Metro's actual customer and not the homeless with severe problems. How can you monitor those that spend the entire day looping around the trains and not going anywhere.... as simple as use the already install cameras with AI (artificial intelligence) to tag and recognize those who spend all day looping and not going anywhere in the Metro same as those breaking the Metro's rules. Cameras everywhere, but not being use to full potential. One more option could be to dedicate a train section to just carry the homeless, but not allow them to get into the other train sections. And the homeless I'm referring to those that use the Metro as shelter like she mentions in the video and those homeless with severe mental illness who are unable to control themselves anymore, reason I say they need escorts. In Metro's like Rome in Italy they even have metal detectors installed at the entrance of the trains so before you board youre required to pass an inspection. And military presence is EVERYWHERE, there is even a soldier post at every metro stop/station. And if you say why and revenue well securing the LA metro will generate more revenue as normal people will start using the Metro once they stop being afraid of traveling in it. So more normal people using it it'll mean more revenue for the Metro.

Just a warning. Since violent crime seems to be up in the county overall, I read that it only worsens in the summer months. I literally read that. We are obv in mid-May. It doesn't surprise me one bit that somebody recently got sh*t on a Metro bus last night. Something about the warmer weather makes the kooks even more kooky. Just watch your backs, everyone *!*

What about the idiots that climbed onto the Blue Line train this morning as it was approaching the Historic Broadway Station? I was late to work because of them. Had to walk along the tunnel to get to the platform in order to wait for the train going to 7th St Metro Station. Then I had to wait for the next train going southbound towards Long Beach.

There's a serious lack of accountability and a serous increase in mental health issues.

Crime mostly happens to honest working paying customers. The crimes are usually made by non paying homeless or hoodlums.

You shouldn’t even be able to get onto the platform or train without scanning a ticket/pass in and then you should have to scan that same ticket/pass to get out of the station. Thus, the homeless can’t get in for shelter. That’s half of the battle. Definitely needs some sort of law enforcement for the other activity and behavior. This is absolutely absurd!

I ride the trains from Long Beach to LAX and Long Beach to Studio City. The police aren't aggressive they ask the train car to show a card. If they aren't shown one by each rider & If they see a few they say good and move on.

Its no point! The metro security which I see on the blue line, even they see anything, they just ignore and look at their phone and pretend they dont see anything. The metro security is useless.

I don’t usually see Police officers onboard the bus. I used to see them occasionally at the GLine station at the Van Nuys stop.

Public transport is a failure

The metro is over 40 years old designed for a population that was half the size of todays LA population. To date the city, state and federal governments has not attempted to build better, higher quality public infrastructure for the 3rd largest city in the nation. Instead they send billions of dollars to fight wars.

That's why I pray when I'm on transit, I sit where I can see eveeything, and I don't have my headphones on and am not distracted by my phone.

Wiggins needs to be relieved of her position. She is not an effective leader. Such a low blow to fire a subordinate with legitimate concerns.. actually petty and unprofessional. She should be embarrassed.
