You should be putting a link to your 150 inch front rod concoction. I loved that video. 👍😁😁😁 The danged thing almost rested on the target butt.

There is definitely a lot to ponder on this topic

As a testimony to how different and diverse archery equipment is: I have two bows and for my primary setup. Don't laugh... shoot with Easton ACE 11" sides and an ACE 30" front with a bunch of weight on both ends. For me, it was all feel. I liked it, and kept it.

In the end, its more of a matter of feel. It's personal, when you go down a line that no two are alike. I will say something my coach told me was that by the time the bow reacts in whoever you wanted it to after the shot, the arrow already has left the riser. But I do have the shrewds, and love them.

I think your coach is incorrect. Most people think the stabilizers are for aiming and vibration reduction. They do help with those things, but the real purpose is to keep the bow “still” in space in the instant between release and when the string reaches brace height. In other words, during the time the arrow has not left the bow yet. During this instant, any “English” you put into the bow hand or release will move the bow in space, when the bow itself is completely out of both hands, but still driving the arrow forward.

@@gmontlake that too. I think what you're stating is an issue of priority vs a differing of purpose.

My setup currently runs 30" up front and 15" on each side. Used to run no extender, but decided to put one on to try; I use a 2" extender so as not to lengthen the front too much. I run 8oz up front, with 5oz on each side. Extension vs no extension was run with the same angles on the v-bar and same weight setup My results: - The bow likes to roll more to the front with an extender (as you'd expect) - At the beginning of the session (first 20-30 arrows) they perform the same, smooth float on the gold. - Later in the session, the no extension setup holds tighter on the gold, but has a lot more twitchiness and random jumps. - The extended setup has a wider float up to the red-blue edge, but has a more consistent float. A bit more twitch than at the start, but no where near as twitchy as no-extension setup. I didn't try adding more weight to the no extension setup, nor did I try and adjust the side rods to find a better balance point. I'm not too keen on adding more mass weight to my bow as it's already pretty hefty by itself at the moment. No extension might perform better after some tuning and more weight, but if an extra 2" gives me the same results, you bet I'll add that 2".

Have you ever tried to run your V- bar on the bottom mount and your front rod still in the middle? I have been experimenting with that and so far I like it. Would like to see a video with different stabilizer placement configurations and your opinion on them...

Yes I have, it's not a bad option. There has even been top archers across the world that have that setup. I liked it but I think I needed to spend more time optimizing the weights so it swung better on releasing the string

P.S. an afterthought ... Because I run a full SIX INCH extension, I ONLY run a MERE 26 inch front rod, BUT longer than normal 19 inch side rods.

My stabilisers set up is very firmly set! I have tried extenders many times, and the whole set up just feels unweildy! I have a 30" long rod, 12" side rods and a quick detach unit on the long rod! There is another view, who cares so long as it looks like Fireball XL 5!
