Hey, thanks for the tutorial! You are one of the few to explain these particular things. Keep going! We surely want more ControlNet videos. However, I have a question: in the controlnet model tab you have control_v11flp_sd15_depth. After downloading the models from the link you provided, in that tab, I only have control_depth-fp16 and a t2i one. Is there a difference? I'm not getting the results you're getting in this video, maybe that's the reason?

Thanks for catching this! The ones I show in the video are actually pruned versions, or reduced sized, I didn't realise they'd have much of an impact. You can get the full models here: huggingface.co/lllyasviel/ControlNet-v1-1/tree/main . I updated the description with this also, let me know if that makes a difference!

This is a really great and informative video! The one issue that I keep struggling with is my original image gets completely ignored, regardless of the Denoising. It looks like the woman's image used in this video as the ControlNet control image is being honored, no matter how much the upper image changes. Is there a setting I need to set, or something additional to install, so that the person in my control image doesn't change, so I can follow the steps in the video and use the different types of images from the top?

@@InciteAI now I'm thinking that maybe this is possible with the depth mask ( which could be interpreted as light source mask), or the model of control net that gives you the 3d approx. From there it can be extracted the shadows and the lights as well.

Is there anyway you can make a tutorial on how to add rim lighting to a model using controlnet, there is not one tutorial online on how to do that. I like to have 2 light sources on my female models and most the time its only on one side of her.

Would this work with batch sequences? Here’s the problem I have, in my video (batch sequence), the nose and its shadow that is not on the original image of the actress vibrate and move around even with 4 CN applied….I have the same issue with the eyes, the eyesight is moving constantly mostly because I believe the models are trained without thinking of the eyeballs position……if you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

It doesn’t work. I just test it last night with the 1.6 SD version and the results are not good at all in what I was trying to fix, which was the shadows on the face of the actress that I have. The shadow around her nose goes out of control and nothing can’t stop it, not even this method, which I’m sure it will work in other situations. Thanks anyway! Great video!

I installed control net and all the models required but every time I try to launch it it gives me an error msg and won’t just load or preview the joints of input image, what could be the problem?

Sounds like an issue with loading the controlnet model? You should see more information on the error on the command box that is running in background, you should see it in yout task bar. Could be a number of things, but I would check to make sure all the controlnet models were downloaded and put in the controlnet model folder (stable-diffusion-webui\extensions\sd-webui-controlnet\models). Also make sure you have .yaml file for all the control net models you downloaded.

Thanks man, you always give new ideas to try! Small issue I'm having though - when I follow your steps the image I get looses all color since the texture I used doesn't have a lot of color variation (water droplets). I can tell that while it's processing the image, there is color. It just takes it all out at the very end! Is there a way to prevent this?

Glad you liked it! That is kind of a side effect of the img2img tab unfortunately, you could try playing with the processing steps or denoiser strength to see if you can maintain some of the colour. You can also try putting your control image in an additional control net unit (you should see tabs in the control net panel, if not you can enable this in settings) and choose the shuffle model. Shuffle should pull in more of the colour scheme from the original into the new image.

Will it work with SDXL based models? The huggingface page seems to only have 1.5 and 2.1 models.

At the time of writing there is no Support for ControlNet + SDXL in A1111, you'd need to go to ComfyUI for that, which has some limited support with the new XL controlNet models, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before it's supported in the A1111 extension.

I don't really have a good answer to this, other than to attribute it to my own subconscious bias.
