Astonishing. For anyone contemplating climbing to the very summit but not sure how difficult it will be this must surely be the best video out there. The lack of any music and sound other than the wind creates an eerily atmospheric sense of the place. Well done all involved!
5:15 is the so called Mauvais Pas, which one has to clear to get to the west summit (the highest point). It is straightforward for people who scramble with confidence. The difficulty is going back down. Make a mental note of your holds and where you put your feet going up. You should be alright. It will prove to be an unforgettable day. Very nice and clear video.
I got to that point and said "bugger that". I thought I could get up, but I wasn't at all sure I could get down again. My climbing partner did it and got to the summit, but he took ages to get down.
Nice job! I was stopped from reaching the true summit by that rock tower back in 2010; it just felt like all the holds sloped the wrong way, pushing me out into the void!
The squirming route is 4 minutes in. Not too difficult (I did it with my 3 teenage daughters with no climbing experience). It's a bit hairy with the exposure, but reasonably safe. If you're going to do Stac Pollaidh, you may as well do it properly!
The groove lower down to the left looks much a more secure ascent option ;-) Though, looking at the aerial footage, there seems to be a much bigger drop on the left than the right?
