Question? I think you owe us, in your opinion, what you’ve owned that feels better, shoots better? Wilson Combat? Dan Wesson DWX? SIG P226 SAO Legion? Especially if it’s not an Phoenix Trinity, Atlas, Infinity or Nighthawk Custom?
@@LOC_TacticalI apologize for my wording. But to answer your question, yes. I am very curious to what you have owned or even shot that compare to the Staccato P.
@damonharrington2948 No worries. Just wanted to make sure I answered it correctly. I've shot Colt 1911 in 45ACP, Ronin Springfield 1911, Girsan 2311, Rock Island's double stack 1911, CZ 75 SP-01, and a 22. 1911. Those are all of the hammer-fired pistols that I can remember at the moment.
@@LOC_Tactical in the video you said it wasn’t the most amazing gun you ever purchased, but please make some comparisons. That’s what he was referring to. Go to your video at @6:00
My favorite handgun is my STI Edge. I would never carry that or use it outside of competitive shooting as it’s obviously not designed for that. I also have a Staccato P, 1st gen Sig P226, and a Gen 4 Glock 19. The Staccato is far more accurate, faster, and smoother than the others. Trust my family’s life with all of them. A gun dealer told me that I wasted my money on the Staccato and should have bought a Canik. With a raised eyebrow I laughed and told him my friend has one and it’s a jamomatic. Been back to the factory twice now.
I got a P with x cuts and dlc threaded barrel and absolutely love it. Idk why I waited so long to get one but I’m gonna get a C2 and XC now. Staccatos are replacing basically all of my handgun uses lol
Staccato customer service recommend a plate from EGW that replaces your rear sight with an optic plate that fits in the dovetail. It gives you the ability to mount an optic without getting the slide milled and voiding the warranty. Downside is the optic sits slightly higher because its sitting on top of the slide. I haven’t tried it yet. I would like to have the slide cut but worried about voiding the warranty. Staccato will not cut the 4.4 p with the adjustable rear sight.
Curious to know what your other 2011/DS1911s were while you were doing your DD. My current research has me between the staccato P, PT H-Tac, MPA DS9, and Stealth Arms.
My main starting point was considering the most amount of money that I would be able to spend and narrowed my search down from there. What are you looking for in a DS1911? Range toy? Duty gun? CCW? Home defense?
The sticatto is awesome. Its been on my want list. I did get a prodigy 4.25 as my first 2011 or 1911 style. Its super cool to me and makes me want the sticatto models even more. Great video.
Thank you very much. Yes, the Staccato is an awesome gun. I am currently ordering a C2 grip for it because I do think that the grip is a little too elongated for my size hands and I believe that it will help conceal better as well. I recommend Gunbroker.com. You have to watch for a while, but you can find some pretty descent deals on Staccato.
When you decide you want to stop shooting low, you can "return your point of aim" back to 4:03 in your video and and watch the MASSIVE amount of muzzle dip before you fire. Some quality training might be in order.
Yes. I did notice that. It came from looking at the camera man and back to the gun to confirm they were ready for the shot. You'll notice that the gun stays on the same shot track the whole time though. Good eye.
I rented one of these at a gun range, not sure if it was the steel or aluminum frame. Wasnt really sure what all the hype was about when i was done. Guess its the price point and 1911 style trigger that make the boys feel superior at the range, until i show up with my ported plastic fantastic at a quarter of the price...
I’m a high-end 1911/2011 guy. Primarily Atlas but a few nighthawks and Wilson’s. I have a staccato P limited, which is the X series with a threaded barrel and comes with the Dawson ice comp. I’ve done a decent amount of work on it including dropping the trigger to a flat 2 pounds (the stock P is 4 lbs) and put in an atlas trigger. The recoil Spring on the stock P comes in at 14 pounds. I have dropped mine to 9 pounds. I would argue that of all the 2011 guns i own, this is the most versatile. It’s designed as a duty gun but The way I’ve configured it, It shoots a lot like the staccato XC, and you can unscrew the compensator and stick a can on it direct thread. My take home message is that you can trick this gun out really nicely and it really is a do everything gun. I use it as a back up gun to my atlas Erebus on the range and it is my home defense gun with an omega 9K on it and subsonic 9 mm hollow points.
How can you say it’s not the greatest without naming what pistol(s) you like/believe to be better? How are we to judge your frame of reference? (Not saying it’s the best, just a very odd omission)
That is a very fair question. This was my very first video. Unfortunately, I did not remember to put everything in the video. I am working at trying to provide better content as I move forward.
@@LOC_Tactical In the end this and all review videos are OPINIONS anyway. This is just the inherent thing about RU-vid reviews in general. But the obvious click bait title and the fact you still did not answer @axm2689 question and to me purposefully avoiding it all together in the comments and video, well. Makes me question and wonder why. Do you honestly have a better option or is this a way to get clicks and likes for a better algorithm on YT?
I have the XL. I’m in law enforcement and carry the Glock 45. I also have probably every Glock made and love the Glock. I am an avid 1911 collector and shoot 4-5 times a month. I have Dan Wesson, Kimber, Colt and my newly acquired Staccato. Yes the price is on the higher end but have zero complaints about this gun. I’m actually looking to purchase the CS next for off duty CC.
So sad and depressing. I'd feel the same way if I got that model. I see a bunch of videos where people regret their purchase and the one common denominator is that its usually a non DPO or non X Series Staccato. I have an XC and P and I have no regrets. I hope you get better soon.
Excellent and honest review. Made a huge mistake by putting a low bid on GunBroker for a STACCATO P. Because this one has the aluminum frame. I want it for a range toy. ABSOLUTELY love my SDS Tank Commander (9mm) 2x 8rd/magazines $409. Superior quality and steel frame. Beautiful grey finish. Put Ed Brown trigger, Wilson Combat parts and Pachmyr grips. Mine is in 9mm and shoots like a dream. You just don't want to stop firing it. Purchased extra Wilson Combat magazines. Had a Pro install and tune it to sheer perfection. It came in excellent condition and the trigger was good. But now she is perfection. Exactly what I wanted. I have about thirty seven guns. I can buy whatever I want. But for me it is ridiculous to spend $2,000 and up for a 9mm handgun. That is rifle territory and rifle caliber pistols with a brace. Peace
The only thing negative I can say about my Staccato C2 or P, is that they’re expensive as a MF! Other than that, Staccato set the bar for customer service and excellence
Thank you for watching! Staccato really does make a great gun. I just want people to purchase them with realistic expectations. Feel free to stop by again sometime. The CS is on my radar as well, but probably later next year sometime.
@@LOC_Tactical Agreed. As a RU-vid viewer it is critical to sort out content that is as unbiased as possible. Appreciate what you are putting out. Cheers
The lead time is a bummer. Luckily, I live near a premium dealer and they had what I wanted in stock (the heritage), so I didn’t have to wait. And yes, the flashlight makes more of a difference than you’d think. I don’t regret my purchase at all, though. The recoil impulse is great, the trigger is great, follow up shots are easy, and the 4.15 inch barrel makes mine a little easier to CC.
I bought a Dan Wesson Specialist a little over a year ago and absolutely loved it. Hands down the most accurate 1911 ive owned. I wanted to add some more 1911s to the collection and bought a Springfield Vickers Master Class and the new TRP that just got released. Neither of the Springfields shoot nearly as good as the Dan Wesson unfortunately and ive already sold the Vickers. Thinking about selling the TRP now and just getting more Dan Wessons in the future. I definitely have buyers remorse on the Springfields sadly.
I want it so freaking badly!! I'm stoked. Before this was even announced, I sent them an email in March of last year and told them to build this exact pistol because I wanted one that was comparable to a Glock 48.
Haha If you're referring to me, I am on no one's payroll lol Wilson Combat does make some quality gun, for sure. Staccato really is nice, but the video was completely based not allowing yourself to get too wrapped up in the "Staccato Dream."
Sounds like you're approaching a Staccato or generally a 2011 from a Glock standpoint when you keep referring to the "modularity" of the platform. If you want modular, go back to the Glock. Shoot the XC or the XL and you'll understand the clear delineation between the duty driven P model and the others. The C2 and CS shoot fantastic as well.
I'm sure you also heard why I understood the limitations of that platform. It's understandable that it is limited with its modularity. But that doesn't meant I have to appreciate it.
Whatever youre accustomed to shooting that shoots better than your Staccato probably cost a lot more. I have a Staccato P. I also have 1911s from Wilson Combat, Nighthawk, and Les Baer. They all cost more than my Staccato. Not sure I understand your problem.
The point of the video is for people to have a more realistic mentality with purchasing a Staccato. Some people get wrapped up into the hype. My Sig P320 cost less and feels quite similar in recoil and is lighter. The only advantage the Staccato has is that the trigger is much cleaner, but that's too be expected with hammer vs striker-fired.
I would really like to get a Staccato. However, I do not see it making me noticeably better. To put it in USPSA terms, I don't see it taking me from one classification to the next one up. Maybe a more pleasant shooting experience. Maybe some faster splits at distance. Maybe it doesn't punish me as much when my grip isn't optimal. But none of that makes a HUGE difference in overall shooting performance to me.
@danielh1708 He's talking about ROI on such small margin of skill enhancement. He's looking at it correctly. I know that not all USPSA shooters are great, but his language shows that he understands that it's not a classifier-changing pistol.
@@LOC_Tactical I can also read what he posted. He's specifically speaking to the pistol making him better...and yes, goes on to equate it to making him better enough to move up classifications. My comment stands as that is what he's stating and implying.
There’s so much hype about lots of guns on you tube, as many gun tubers need to make content and keep up with other tubers. So it’s easy to be let down when a gun doesn’t meet the picture you created in your mind. Also, what’s your perspective, experience, and why are you buying that specific gun? I own reasonably priced, reliable guns for specific purposes. Home defense, concealed carry, and camping in bear country. Would I see enough value in spending thousands of dollars on a new gun, that goes bang like my others when I have a finite amount of resources to spend on hobbies? Sometimes it’s hard to face our own realties. I love watching videos about amazingly nice 1911 and 2011s. Am I going to drop over$3500 on a Wilson 9mm? No I’m not and I would probably have regret after the purchase. I remind myself how lucky I am to live somewhere I can legally own guns and I can afford a few, and that’s plenty good enough. Now let me go ride my new Honda Goldwing 😂, one of my other resource buckets.
@@LOC_Tactical duty series level 2 will get you a 1911 grip angle. That’s what I did on Gen 5 19 and I love the gun now because if I switch between platforms I don’t have to worry about making the adjustment in my wrist to drive the gun and keep it flat.
These are great guns, but hardly the best. If you have experience with other quality 1911s and high end Sigs and CZs, Staccato's can feel a bit underwhelming. Especially for the price point. I much prefer the P226 X-Five to the Staccato.
Interesting perspective to your video. Nobody would want you to offer any hype, bc the P already has enough of that that ppl just want to learn more about it from unbiased content. I see from the # of views you have on this video that it’s your most watched video. So we see where you’re at as far as justifying your purchase. I’d recommend digging in and really documenting more specifics about the P and how it performs and if your thoughts change. Try to be unbiased but since you’re trying to justify it, dig in and get those views!
I couldn’t disagree more with the “almost bottom” of the 2011 world. I get what you’re trying to say, but I highly disagree. Mid tier? Sure, however, if you are going to atlas, chambers custom, or night hawk. For the price difference vs performance difference, it’s honestly not worth it.
@@imanibarnett7513100% agree. I’ve handled 2011s that are twice the money but definitely not twice the value. I’d rather have two staccatos than one nighthawk.
Roger Barrera has a great review on the xc and the nighthawk trs. I got my xc’s because all others seem to racey for me. The. Bright colors, charging handles, Extreme mag wells. The new grip texture is great and my xc with the polymer lower feels very well balanced. I guess you don’t know unless you held one and shot it or racked the slide. He is using the p model. If he got the xc he would be singing a different tune.
Thank you very much. The main premise for the video was simply to help make a Staccato buyer's expectations realistic. I think that there are way too many individuals that are caught up in the Staccato dream. All that being said, my Staccato won me over...I freaking love mine. I honestly would say that if you want a DS1911 but aren't willing to take the gut punch and you just want a range toy, I think that the Prodigy is a descent baseline that you can upgrade over time. Keep an eye out on Oracle Arms too.
Hype is the wrong word. Too many people that have Toyota Camry tastes and drive at 55 mph max, jump up to a Porsche 911 and realize that at 55 MPH the Porsche does nothing better than their Toyota for 3 times the cost and then complain about it.
@@SectionChiefSo, hype is the correct word. I do understand exactly where you're coming from though, and I agree with you. It's just like golf - a far more expensive club is still gonna hit like crap if you're an immature player. I like the illustration you gave. Solid example.
