@younghoss I had the EXACT same reaction. I was just thinking the other day about how I don't do half the stuff I used to when I was young. I guess there's more important things to do as you get older. But Stacey, I thought u were such a babe back then but clearly the time has passed. No disrespect, it happens to the best of us.
From Wikipedia - Stacey Q (Stacey Lynn Swain) was born in late Nov. 1958, so this video had her just shy of 50. May everyone look as good at 50 and still want to do what they did a quarter century ago. She studied ballet and considers herself more a dancer than a singer, thus the elaborate beginning to this video. She has done it all: working at Disneyland, riding an elephant in a circus, conversion to Buddhism, songwriter, tv acting and record producer. I think she is just terrific !!!
I understand what you're saying. Her live voice has always been different than her "album" voice. If you look at clips on RU-vid from the 80s she pretty much sang the same way live then as she does now. She did make an album in 2010, "Color Me Cinnamon." I absolutely adore Stacey Q (obviously), but I gotta say with the help of studio magic she sings in that high voice just like she did on her 80s albums. In fact, "Cinnamon" sounds like it very much could've been recorded in the 80s, vocal-wise.
She allegedly has years and years of dance training, and I ain't no dancer myself, but even back to the days of 'Two of Hearts' video she appears to have very little skill in dancing.
I remember the song well. Maybe her voice was always assisted in the studio. I notice that she is wearing long pants and sleeves, my guess is to hide distracting or embarrassing tattoos. However, I have to hand it to her, it takes real fortitude to go on stage after all this time and dig deep to try to recreate as much of her previous performance as she could muster, knowing that the haters would be ready and waiting, en masse, to run her down, in every conceivable manner. Kudos to Stacey Q.
what do you expect, she was pushing 30 when the song first came out so naturally she's aged a bit 24 years later. of course by performing this she's saying to herself 'who am I kidding' but that's not the point, it's supposed to be a time warp, just enjoy it for what it is. Like other people said too, she looks better for her age than most other people in their early 50s.
This was 2008 & Julie Chen's hair looks like it was straight out of 1988!! But for real --- Morgan McMichael's from RuPaul's Drag Race turned me on 2 this song.
I can't believe people are saying she doesn't look good.. have to be kidding me. She looks better now than most girls who are 25 do. Most white women expire at 25 due to hard drinking and being slam-pigs night after night. She looks really good, most men would love to have their wife looking like that at in their 50's (not to mention how bad you'll look at 50+ yourself).. very hard to match that old pitch though, she probably didn't have any volume using that baby-girl voice in the 80's either, that's the studio pumping it up a bit. Kudos for her to even be singing live AT ALL, most would not do that.
@@huntingfashiondolls3307 true. I got the impression that she doesn't care, looks like an average person's hair style for being at the house and getting groceries... then she was surprised and got a gig to sing one day.
People commenting she doesn’t “look good” or “sound good”, she got older and her voice is going to change. That’s only natural. But I don’t think she did bad at all considering this song is from the 80s
Is there something wrong with Me if I like this so much and heavy metal? Please don't laugh at Me if you see Me Crankin' this hangin' out the window goin' down the road singin' along with the breeze *in My Face* !!! Cuz φYφZ get Cranky, LoL
Why are people hating on Stacey Q? Knock it off. This song was hot and still is. She looks good too. She's definitely not the worse looking 50 year old woman I've ever seen. Susan Boyle anyone? And Stacey Q looks 1000x better. Before anyone puts up a rebuttal about who's more talented, I'm only talking about looks here. People expect everyone to be full of Botox that they forget that there are people who actually want to age naturally.
@thedarthflagger If you guys have heard any of her new material, she still sings in that upper register and sounds just like she did in 1986. My theory is she just can't always perform that vocal range live. If you check out any of her other live performances from the 80s, she sounds just like she does here.
I've checked out a number of her videos on youtube and agree with the comment it's time for her to retire from the public eye. Her clothing choice makes her look 20 years older than she really is, and her song is a "has been" one hit wonder. I love 80s music, but her change in pitch as she's aged hasn't done her public image any wonders. Time for her to watch Stacy London on What Not To Wear and especially retire that frilly outfit she wore to Boogie Nights in Atlantic City.
@jbada1 I'm not a hater. I'm just a person with an opinion just like you. I don't judge anyone or call them names because they have a different opinion than I do. I respect people for their being different and I'm getting tired of people calling me awful names because I don't like what they like.
she looks okay for her age...but geez. she can't even sing anything in her upper register anymore! the fact that she's in a lonely tv studio makes it even worse, and the camera angles don't make it any better, as they were clearly trying to do. not really entertaining at all.
This is just awful. I just finished watching her video that she made back in the '80's of this song. She's way different, and sounds way better. Her performance in this video sucks. Some things should just be left where they belong...in the past.
She sounds AWFUL here.Boy her voice changed so much over the years. Not like Tiffany's or Taylor Dayne's they still have AMAZING VOICES.But Stacey I guess you could say time for retirement.i LOVED HER BACK THEN IN THE 80'S.
She looks old... like 65 years old, not debbie harry 65 but like grandma 65. My be too much sun aged her skin. On a positive note she still sings pretty good, nice bod plenty of energy.
Why do people assume she was trying to 'come back'? This was an 80's themed week on the today show and her manager asked her to do this. She was probably barely trying.
She looks/sounds great and I can finally understand all the lyrics. Haven't you heard; 50 is the new 30. Bravo to her and others who still go after their dreams!
