Video #1 of 2, John Leffler runs us through a step by step methodology using bands and other training aids for elite skiers to discover proper stance over the skis. Video #2 focus is edging movements. www.skistrong.org/store/
Many thanks for this posting - incredibly helpful and something to think about and build in. Especially liked the caution against being too upright. Interesting balance to strike between that and too flexed.
Great content and technical information here Deb…thank you. PS: my wife loved the Ski Strong long sleeve for 🎄 and your autograph and sticker were a huge surprise thanks! Love the Merch!
This is an interesting video, how to impact an elite skier and alter movements. So many of the drills I’ve seen are geared towards intermediate or advanced - his use bands or different techniques to build muscle memory or trigger the subconscious to correct a movement is useful. It’s a deep dive for sure! Also I like the GS, SUPER G, DOWNHILL arm cue as a different way to get upper lower body separation
I'm new skier and quite old and battered and finding it very difficult for a few reasons but this channel is making things clearer to understand thank you x
Keep at it - you are never too old to learn how to ski. You would be surprised at how many people in the 70's and 80's are out there for their first lessons!
Just excellent content, such a pleasure to watch currently training for my French ski instructors in France and love implementing exercises and cues into my skiing. Thank you best ski resource out there
Great video! Hands are back! Interesting have been using some of the moves demonstrated to experience body positions, even with beginning skiers. Like the three hand positions and the simulated railroad track turns. Would love to get copy of handbook, How?
Hi Deb And, hi John, so I purchased John’s book of quantum Ski mechanics I have been trialling this with athletes under 16s. On plastic slopes. Purely on the mechanics side. It has been fantastic results Also, my own personal mechanics have vastly improved because of this system a massive thank you to you both I’m still learning every day still school day but the direction is very good. Thank you again
A lot of good info in this. I especially like the goal of putting the skier into both a physical and mental position where the body is free to explore and acquire the movement. The concept of low, medium, and high jeopardy is a great way to contemplate the risk / reward of a lesson choice. Thinking of jeopardy instantly makes me contemplate the mental component of my student - which is a pathway to empathy. I like to think I have empathy for my students but this is a great tool for coaches looking for different ways to connect with their athletes. Also, the biomechanics info in this is simple to understand - great job! Where can I buy his book?
I can’t understand stand him Deb, I love the way you describe training moves. I.e. “imagine you’re on a bicycle...”. This bloke does my head in trying to picture what he’s saying.
Fair enough!!!!! This type of content and video is not for everyone thats for sure!!!! Remember, this is why I put out all different sorts of videos. Everyone is a different levels, differing motivations, different understandings. Everyone is different!!!!! Stick to those videos you like👍👍👍 thanks for the comment
This is an incredible inside view. Is there anywhere we can find the quantum ski mechanics manual because i can find nothing online. I.m an avid fan of your videos
i think this is great instruction but the hill is a blue run (europe) what do you do when the hill is a black run because its easy to do that on a blue run?
what videos do you like Otis? I hope the variety of my videos has hit upon some of the topics you value. As you may know I publish many different focus points, levels of skiers, situations. Not every video resonates with everyone. This is very high end content, dense content. I believe some will very much appreciate the in depth explanations . This diversity of content is important to me with my channel.
@@DebArmstrongSkiStrong Absolutely Deb! This video really resonated with me. I learned about the stacked position from some former competitors, but never heard anyone else talk about it until I saw this video. I absolutley agree getting into the technical jargon is necessary at this level.
