Hey Scrapping Adventure, i make copper bars myself. I dont charge much and I have had a great response from the community. I get all my copper from scrapping too. I dont go out of my way It just seems to fall in my back pocket ya know. Thanks for making the video. I stay away from investment grad bars and rounds. The bars with holes do very well. Add a bit of borax to get rid of bubbles in your pours.

I bought 2 100 oz bars of copper for next to nothing. One year outlook on cooper by experts based on anticipated demand is going to be more than double current prices. Besides, I love having copper next to my silver and gold stacks!

Great topic! I don't throw away or sell any of my scrap metals. I find the value is better stored in the material than in fiat cash. Also copper rounds and bars are insane, sure there's potential for the value to go up, BUT you throw that away upon purchase. If you don't want to scrap, you can just buy massive rolls of copper wire, I think it's the cheapest form of copper to buy, you'll have to do your own research though. Better yet, before anything, call some scrap yards and see what they pay for copper (by the pound)and maybe even ask to buy from them direct.

When the video started and you mentioned buying copper, I was thinking “why would you buy something you can get for free?”. Glad that you also came to the same conclusion. Great video. The professional bar was very nice looking. I can see having one as a novelty but stackers want to accumulate large amounts at the lowest price … and free is the best price (well I once had a guy offer to pay me to take away his scrap including a heap of copper, but I couldn’t bring myself to charge him)
@scrappingadventures290

Taking copper bar to the scrap yard you would get well below spot or market price because they don't know what is in it. I have a few hundred pounds of copper sitting in my back yard but I am waiting on Taking it in until commodities go back up in value. Until then my scrap pile just keeps on getting bigger. Last year when prices were high I took in my brass pile and was able to get an ounce of gold for it.
@scrappingadventures290
@scrappingadventures290 2 года назад
Yes, but why would you do that if you can sell them on ebay for like 3x spor or even more? And of course you don't get spot for anything you bring to the yard, because spot is a theoretical number for the stockmarket, no one gets or pays that exact number, it's just used for a rough orientation. Thanks for watching 👍

containerizing, stacking... YES!!! Copper is very under it's true value right now. I refuse to take any of my copper into recycling at this time. Particularly on the eve of wanting to cast things. I'm not saying buy copper though. I get mine for the mere cost of gasoline spent. People give me broken appliances, and I hedge the copper and aluminum. Steel, I can't justify holding for long periods. Currently $70/ton here. Which more than covers gas, usually. Only if I end up tight on funds, will I sell my copper. It's very abundant in the ground, no, I don't think so. It's similar to aluminum, a bery useful metal, but literally 8% of this planet consist of it, so it's never going to be expensive. But it's stable and will always be worth something. Thanks for watching 👍
@TEXAS-SMITH
@TEXAS-SMITH Год назад
@@scrappingadventures290 I think it will get expensive because storage above ground gets nearly depleted until prices go higher then and only then do miners start production again. Then there is a huge demand which increases prices even more. Actual copper miners are just now getting funding to find new ore. Up until now it has mainly been a byproduct of gold mines. All of that is about to change. Mining specifically for copper really didn't exist until recently. Copper mines have been closed. Let's just wait and watch. Right now you will over pay for the "art" in the copper. I agree on that part.

good video, same thing i've always said about jewelry, the mark up is ridiculous, you never recover your "investment". i see these rappers with these huge gold/silver/diamond necklaces costing 10's of thousands of dollars, knowing they will never get anything near what they paid, maybe if they die young or something, but you're dead... same thing with cars, very few cars hold their value. these are not investments, they're frivolous buys, a waste of money.
@scrappingadventures290
@scrappingadventures290 2 года назад
Well, nowadays some cars can actually be a great investment, my grandma bought one of those Suzuki Jimny's in 2019 for like 16k and was offered 30k just a few weeks ago. Mad stuff. She didn't sell it tho, she needs that exact car and you obviously can't get them because of that crazy demand. But yes, just your normal F 150 or vw golf is not a good investieren, that's certainly the case. The thing with jewelery, well, that also depends, if you buy it new from some boutique or something yes, that'll be a bad investment, but people sell that stuff all the time, l8ke you said, for much much less than they bought it for, so why not buy it from them? That would then be a sound investment 👍👍😃
@tomitstube
@tomitstube 2 года назад
@@scrappingadventures290 true, there will be some cars (not collectables) that become popular with certain demographics, but it isn't something that's consistent. like i had a small nissan pick-up about 10 years ago, and almost every two weeks a latino guy would want to know if i wanted to sell it, i bought it for like $500 so i would have made a small profit but i needed the truck more, and it wouldn't have been enough money to really upgrade without going into debt. jewelry is a total scam, de beers has warehouses full of diamonds, they hoard them and have a large percentage of all diamonds so they can keep the price artificially high, i had an ornate gold ring that cost about $1000 retail. times got tough and i advertised it, got no bites, took it to a pawn shop and the guy would only give me money for the weight, he didn't care how much detail it had... got like $70 for the weight in gold.
@scrappingadventures290
@scrappingadventures290 2 года назад
Totally, that's what I was saying about retail and not retail. If you are forced to sell something, you will get scammed, that's a given with human beings. Of course a pawn shop ain't gonna care about the details on a ring or how nicely it was made, because they don't have to care. They know very well that the people that come there have no choice, so they don't give two frogs. But here's the catch: that has nothing to do with jewelry, they do that with everything under the sun. Friend of mine wanted to sell his basically new IPhone a few years back, was worth a solid 600$, they offered him 30$ and didn't want to negotiate. Of course he sold it online and not with them. There's a lot of effort that goes into making jewelry by hand for example, it's incredibly tedious and takes enormous amounts of skill, so I totally understand why it is as expensive as it is, but that doesn't mean that it's a good investment, that's for sure.
@oldscratch3535
@oldscratch3535 2 года назад
@@tomitstube You don't get shit for jewelry other than the value of the metal. The only exceptions are jewelry from well known/high end jewelers, rare vintage/historical pieces, or something that has a provenance that makes it desirable. An example would be a Wal-Mart sterling silver ring worn by some random chick is worth like $10, maybe $15 if she's hot. If it was worn daily by the now deceased Queen Elizabeth...well that shit is worth something. Diamonds aren't worth shit. In the grand scale of the universe, its a common material locked in a common form of matter. Actual precious metals are rare as hens teeth. The process to actually form gold, silver, platinum, palladium, etc, is incredible. Gold isn't even from this planet. It formed in a fucking star after it went supernova and it arrived here on asteroids. I'd much rather have that than some compressed carbon.

I have some copper bars just for the novelty and b/c I worked with copper roofing for 15 years. I tend to buy things like pens, knives, flashlights, and little knick knacks in copper just b/c I worked with it for so long. I bought one copper coin simply b/c it had a bare breasted woman on it. It looks great. I have big tubs full of copper scrap that I picked up from jobsites. Electricians/plumbers would always leave their drops laying on the ground so I would go around and pick up all the pieces. I would sometimes go in the dumpster if there was a pick pile of wire/plumbing scrap. I'd find old appliances on the side of the road and take it home to dismantle it for the copper wire and electronics. I did the same with lead b/c I can use it to cast bullets. I probably have 1,000lbs of lead on my back porch right now. I'd argue that I can get more money for the lead than I can the copper. Copper bars aren't a good investment when you can go to literally any jobsite and offer to clean up the place for free and pick up all the copper scrap you can carry. What I have isn't worth a lot, but who knows, maybe 20 years from now copper will have doubled or quadrupled in price and it will be worth a few grand. That's worth it to me and all I had to do was bend over and pick it up. I just don't see it as an investment that's going to make you money. It may hold some value or give you some money in hard times, but that's about it.

Yeah sure, I don't really look at it as something that will go up in value either, just something I like that can be turned into cash at any point and that I barely had to pay anything for, if anything at all. Thanks for watching 👍
