Im currently grinding for the great one on hirschfeld exclusively. A lot of people say this map is unplayable compared to others because of the brush density but ive found a strat that works. I don't hunt drink zones on hirsch, I hunt feed zones. Specifically red deer feed zones in the cornfields between 1300-1700. Those big stags come out of the brush to feed and the zones are small so there are only stags with no does in the way to interfere with the shot. I can spot them out to 300 or 400 meters and I don't have to go into the brush after them. You can just pick them off like ducks in a barrel along with the occasional hog and roe deer. Grinds coming along nicely.

@@SscripzzYT All the cornfields. Scout them at around 1330-1730. Those big stags will be out of the brush. Some of the cornfields wont have any but a lot of times you see 1-2 stags standing alone feeding. Easy pickins.

I exclusively hunt Hirschfelden religiously, and this is exactly how I have been hunting the map most of the time.. The corn fields are the way to go!

If you go back to 17:11 and slow it down, you can se the red deer spawn in beside the ibex when he use the binoculars

Having red deer in my country is really nice and seeing these videos griding for the great one, makes me want to get a hunting permit. But I can't atm, I hate the laws in my country...

Hey Flinter, if you're interested in more variety in your great one grinding, would it make sense to hunt multiple maps rather than just one? You would get respawns with every run-through so I don't think it would be too much less efficient unless one map is simply better for red deer. Personally I don't mind seeing the same map over and over again, but I can imagine it gets tiresome to play. Just a thought though.

I’d like that more tbh… main reason is I don’t hunt this map for red deer, I hunt a different one, and I think It would be cool if he hunted more than one map so we can see him hunting on different maps and can learn great places for them, and so we can see how he hunts on those maps… sooooo yea, never the less keep it up flinter ❤

The cornfields in the northeast during feed times. Make sure they are cornfields and not strawfields. Also red deer valley in northwest and the very tip of the river right under it has several large herds. It's pretty thick vegetation in there though.

I have a question about respawns. Do animals respawn quickly back somewhere on the map, or do you need to leave the map and come back in for it to refresh? I'm seeing a lot of different answers. The way I was grinding was setting the time to the beginning of drink times, hunting till the end of drink time, going back to a tent/outpost and setting the clock back to the beginning of drink times once more. I don't know how effective this method is as I don't have a huge amount of game knowledge

After you reset the time, turn the game off and then back on. Seems to work for me

I wanted to ask you since I love watching your videos. When zeroing, if you have a target at 200m - 220m is it better to go 300m or 150m?

Whichever you prefer, if you are more comfortable and have good knowledge of where the bullet will end up when you aim low while zeroed in at 300m for a target that's 200, then go for that. Personally I'm more comfortable with calling for the bullet drop as it's more realistic, so I like zeroing in for 150 in that scenario. Hope that made sense, and I know I'm not flinter, but he has a lot of people that comment to so he can't get back to everyone.

@@wyatt_COTW that's okay! I woulda been slightly star struck if Flinter actually answered. I think it's more I feel safe in his community? Your explanation makes sense! It makes sense to just account for bullet drop then to potentially over shoot so your answer sounds right to me. I'm just always worried Im making the wrong call and just getting lucky sometimes.

Just tossing this out there, but really wish EW would add a piece of equipment commonly used by real hunters. A hiking/shooting stick. The wobble in this game is correct for shooting off-hand but hunter only shoot off-hand at last resort. Real hunters will carry a shooting/hiking stick, maybe prop up against a tree, go prone and shoot of their pack, and if in a stand or blind, you always have a shooting rail. Good video and some nice shooting sir. Rock on.

I hate the drinking mechanic they have in place for animals on CoTw, drinking 10 miles from the waters edge. It's pretty stupid and a blunder on their part and I've always hated it, not to mention it makes it harder to spot them to take them out. Animals should be drinking down by the waters edge, not 10 miles up on a hill munching on dirt. EW really need to redo the drinking mechanic!! Great vid as always.

… Starting off the video saying it is repetitive… I don’t know.. have you considered maybe ditching the M1 you use all the time?😂 Also the ‘mystery’ stag you couldn’t see… you straight up looked at him spawn in at 17:10 🤣
