Prior to taking the ice at the 2024 Stadium Series, the New York Rangers received some words of encouragement from head coach of the 1994 Stanley Cup champions Mike Keenan, 1994 Stanley Cup champion Mark Messier and Conor McDonald, son of NYPD patrolman Steven McDonald who was paralyzed in the line of duty and for whom the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award is named after.

When you see this, you do see the true class that runs through the Rangers organisation. Wearing the FDNY & NYPD jerseys on the walk in was so classy too.

Messier is just a legend. He accomplished so much with the oilers. To come to New York as an older player and lead the team to a cup win after 54 years. Then still continue to be part of New York hockey and the Rangers. Just a class act. This is why when people want him to be a coach I rather him not be talked as if he didn’t make the right choice and ruin his legacy. Keep him where he is. Love him being a New Yorker and part of the franchise. Always be New Yorks best leader.
