Kamineiro it’s a nationalwide joke (or a running gag) in Germany. If you ask a German something about Bielefeld he will deny that Bielefeld exist. If you speak about Bielefeld he will say: Bielefeld does not exist.

I always thought that gas prices were low in the States compared to Europe and my country in particular, the Netherlands! But distances are of course much longer! A cousin of mine went to live in Canada in 1993. He has to drive like 20-30 miles to the nearest shops. Here I hop on my bike to the nearest supermarket, only 5 minutes away. But I do own a car to go places that are further away or can't be reached by public transport easily.

@@horseplop9 Living in a small country, which is roughly the size of Minnesota, but has 3 times more inhabitants, roughly 17,5 million, has advantages, but also downsides! I live in the middle of the country, but can get to Amsterdam within 1,5 hours by train from my local trainstation. One of the disadvantages is that highways often have traffic jams, trains, metros and busses are overcrowded during rushhour and that there are even traffic jams in bikelanes in the big cities! Now our government has come up with a scheme that allows employers to lease electric bikes basically for free to their employees, for like 7-8 euros a monrh, about 10 dollars US. An e-bike is ideal for commutes up to 15 miles and you get to your workplace without being too sweatty. In combination with "bikelane highways" they hope to keep the country going. Hope to get one of these bikes soon! It is really necessary to invest in schemes like this, since the population is ecpected to peak at 20 million in the 2040s! We still reproduce at a nice rate compared to other western nations and attract a lot of immiggrants from Central and Eastern Europe, from our former colonies and also from the US!

It did, however, use DUEWAG Type M cars ("M-Wagen") - essentially the same as Type B, but metre gauge. I believe they are used to this day, though they also got an updated version that is far more modern than anything on the other NRW light rail networks.

@@SilverScroll I wouldn't call the M Wagen the same as the B Wagen. First there's the entirely different exterior design. Then there's differences regarding passenger capacity (a B-Wagen can carry up to 289 passengers, a M-Wagen only up to 224), Max speed (B-Wagen: 80 to 100 Km/h, M-Wagen: 70 Km/h), floor height (B-Wagen: 1000mm above ground, M-Wagen: 880mm above ground) and Width (B-Wagen: 2650mm, M-Wagen: 2300mm). Also, the M-Wagen actually received a Standard gauge variant dubbed the N-Wagen.
