Staff Sgt. Ryan Pitts received the Medal of Honor in a ceremony at the White House July 21, for his actions during the battle of Wanat in Afghanistan July 13, 2008. Pitts is the ninth living recipient to be awarded the Medal of Honor for actions in Iraq or Afghanistan.
