This is awesome. Kinda had already dug into the differences after watching some Tamed Fire videos and looked up the manufacturing of different aluminum tubes but hadn't even begun to look at Carbon Fiber ones. Don't think I'm even remotely close to ready for that journey but awesome info. Also kinda cool to put a face and voice to the shipping label that came in the mail. lol
Thanks for the info! I’m thinking as a beginner I should probably go with the slightly heavier 7075 AL with the epdm grip on a contact staff. The yoga grip is appealing too but it seems you are recommending it more for dragon staffs
I like the heavier ones when I am practicing / drilling new stuff. Just bounces less and is more forgiving. If you have ok or better upper body strength and no shoulder injuries, def the way to go. We upgraded the EPDM with a silicone foam (called Nimbus grip) that I really love. Lasts a LOT longer and you don't get the residue EPDM leaves. You do have to sand it every 6 months or so with some 80 grit sand paper to rough it up. But it will last years.
