i had one too for 15 years and he died yesterday. we had the most beautiful friendship and most beautiful dog I ever had, and i "m devasted to lose him.
We are so sorry for your loss. We lost our girl, Swanky Queen of the North to cancer, two months ago, so we know & understand the heartbreak you are going through. I’ve had Staffies for the last forty years, so losses are inevitable… they still sting & are never really gone, but it does become bearable with time. When you’re ready, the best antidote is another Staff. My wife & I now keep two Staffs usually about six years apart, so that you have a best friend to help you through the loss. Don’t know if that’s an option for you, but is great for us. Also, bare in mind the little known equation that defines the correct number of Staffies to have. It is given by n=n+1, where n is the number of Staffies currently in you life. Obviously don’t get more Staffies than you can care for. All three of us, me, the Mrs & Binky are thinking of you, & wish you a speedy passage through your grief. 😢🇦🇺
I'm so grateful for the time and love yall had together. I have one she gets separation anxiety when when she's away from me. She's my other half. Just remember your baby is always watching over you.
I have one 8 years old. He was left on the side of the road, out in the country. He was probably 1 year old. I was 73. He is the sweetest, gentle dog. He is absolutely the most hard headed dog I have ever had. Spent 1400.00 to get him trained. Lol might as well set a match to that money. He does everything when he is ready and not before. But, i love him so much. When I first took him in all I could think was that he wasn't an old ladies dog. 3 times he had the zoomies and came flying by me, clipped my legs and down I went. Lol we made it through those crazy times. Charlie you are loved.
We got ours from a local animal shelter. He had been rescued from the streets of South Carolina and brought North to New England. We weren't the first family to adopt him. The first took him home and then thought he was a pitbull. They brought him back within 24 hours. When we found him a few weeks later at the shelter, he was extremely timid around humans but quickly warmed to people. He is easily the most affectionate and non-aggressive dog I've ever had. He prefers to sleep next to people, and if you fall asleep on the downstairs sofa he will fall asleep next to you. His one passion in life is squeak toys. He likes to go out for walks but only with people and prefers not to go out into our large backyard all by himself. He is truly a family dog.

They are loving, loyal and my staffy girl broke down a major wall in me after a long period of bullying. They are high caliber social support dogs. They always want to be close to you.
I have an elderly neighbour whose Staffy plays with mine. The owner has mobility problems and now exercises his dog with a mobility scooter. A few weeks ago his battery ran out half a mile from home. No problem, he got home by Staffy power.

Our Staffy is the sweetest, smartest dog I’ve ever had in my 53 years of life! She is an amazingly loving dog! Always trying to make my wife and i happy and stay close to us and our grown children that live elsewhere! She is a champion and proud member of our family!
Best dogs ever. I'll admit I didn't want one, but my husband did. Turns out he is my best friend and the best dog I've ever had. Gentle and lots of fun. Most loving little soul. Definitely a whirlwind made of bricks.
I swear my staffie stole my girlfriend from me.. she has very closed minded parents who told her these dogs are dangerous so she was scared at first but from what I see she loves my boy more than me 😂

Not me, these dogs are strong and some just can't handle them. I love these dogs and realize an owner that can't handle one is most likely a death sentence for the dog.

I rescued a female staffy from a puppy mill. The had started breeding her in here first heat and just kept going until she was no longer needed. The despicable people tossed her from a moving vehicle in my back lane. My Neighbors granddaughter Lexi and my friend Lana from a few doors came to help as well. It took about 45 minutes to catch her but we succeeded! She was very scared and skittish and a bit emaciated at first . After a trip to the vet we had found out she had a protein deficiencies and still had a good bag of milk. It started with a lot of love, she got everything she needed. Her favorite treat was raw frozen liver and raw frozen chicken thighs (no bones at all). I would chop the meat and put it in a snack size ziploc and freeze. It was getting here healthy again and the "meat Popsicles " were awesome and she ate them so fast and there was no clean up. She is great dog. I love her so much and she's amazing with my grandkids.
I have a staffy that lives down the road from us. His name is Otis and is the friendliest dog I've ever met. His "brother" Eli is a Yorkie and is the mean one of the two lol
We have two "pits" I suspect are staffies based on what I'm learning the last few days. They're SWEET. We have a Westie, he's convinced he runs the show 😂
@godwarrior If you're asking if pitbulls are related to Staffies then yes, I think most of a pitbulls genetic make up comes from the staffy Like most Brits who know Staffies well, every time I see a vid of a goofy, friendly, human obsessed and child obsessed hunk of sweet love type pitbull all I see is a staffy. Pitbulls are banned in the UK so most only get to see them on RU-vid
I have a Staffe and he’s chill,however those little gremlins referred to here are somewhat not so chill 😂 doubt I could deal with one of those little ones they bark and fuss too much however they’re cute as all animals are 🙏🏼🐶❤️
I just lost my best friend and nutcase 1/1/24 after 13 fantastic years. Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Devon, France, Spain we went everywhere together, and there is now a massive void in my heart. Best mate ever, but never forget you must be his leader, and he will follow you everywhere with love.
I have a staffy named Jet..he is black with a little white on head ,white socks and brindle body..tomorrow ( 25/7/24 ) is his birthday. He will be 8 years old. I have owned many dogs from German shepherd, labs,mixes and my big boy rottie…I have to say Jet is one of the smartest dogs I have owned . He has to sus out new people but loves my dad and sons. He is never fed canned food as this to dogs is poison. Chicken and steak with rice is what he has and treats in the morning. I would totally recommend an Amstaff. Truly amazing
I have nicknames for mine ... 'Velcro dog' and 'propeller butt' because he's never more than a few feet away (even when i'm in the shower) and that tail never stops! Total goof, loves to play, afraid of spiders, would give thief's the wide screen TV for treats.
I have 2 year old staffy Ragnar. He is my first dog, he is smart, trainable, active, loving and sweet. He wasn't my dream dog, but now he sure is. I grew up, our family dogs were German shepherds and Malinois.
I don't know, no one has tried to attack me. I haven't had a chance test with someone, who dares to risk being bitten. No such dog trainers in my area. He seems to have some kind of protective instinct. When I fake a distress sound, he tries to find the reason why by barking and searching. But overall he loves every human being to the moon and back. My daughter also has a staffy, a female, and she is very protective.
Loved the video, one objection though, we have a 13 yr old Staffy and she requires at least 45 mins excerise a day, a young staffy would need approx. 2 hours of exercise! Don't get a staffy unless you have the energy to give it what it needs
Problem is you don’t see many proper pedigree ones anymore, people are cross breeding them so now they are a lot taller, the one I had 20 years ago was short muscular and known as an apple head, I’m looking for one now but seen nothing like the one I had. I want the short stocky one.

If you wont a Stafford with minimal health issues feed them a raw diet you will save more in vet bills in the long-term, if you can't afford a raw diet don't get a Stafford.
Not true. I feed mine ROYAL CANIN + Cooked egg (in veg oil only) + cooked chicken or steak + flak seed meal/hulled hemp kernels, occasionally brown rice, turkey. Omega 3's for sure.

I have a staffie APBT mix ,16 months old 52 pounds if she didn't have such a short nose you would think she was just an APBT ,she can be a handful at times very smart very stubborn she is gray and white she can dig and she can jump she's a rescue I got her when she was 9 months old she is fearless
It's not true tho, they are not know as staffy in America..they are so rare in America, and we have our own Staffordshire terrier..the bull terrier is not known by anyone in America, yet they are the best and for some reason rare
Complements on a great production. I have a Staffy. My second. They're cuddle bugs but they really need intense exercise almost daily or else you will have a gremlin instead of a dog. Also, they get depressed and anxious when left alone for too long. Their intelligence is uncanny making them the choice of conservationists in Africa for tracking dangerous wildlife.
I mean, if you get a working line staffy they can. Most breeders in the kennel club breeds for showrings, but there are breeders that breed "sporting staffs" or working staffs that can be used for ratting.
Most serious kennels gets their dogs temperament tested which will give you an idea how the parents of the puppies are. Energylevels within breed can differ a lot, same with preydrive and other stuff.

if you don't teach these dogs well, or if you wan't a lazy dog....don't get a staffy. i grew up with these mutts. and i can say i never loved anyone as much as a staffy.they're the perfect companion.but you have to have a shitload of energy...otherwise they'll bring your house to the ground.
See this is the reason im hesitant about choosing this dog breed.. I really like them. Their looks, their temperament and how friendly they are. I’ve never owned one so this is all based off videos I’ve seen and things I’ve read. I don’t mind a dog that is energetic and due to their size they are still manageable but if they are a whirlwind 24/7 they aren’t the dog for me.. could you give me an estimate of what their energy distribution is trough out a typical day? Like what percentage of the day is spent in whirlwind mode and what percentage is chill/sleep mode? Would really appreciate your opinion on this!
@@renske1760 it depends on how often you exercise the dog. when you take him for walks or take him to play in the park for an hour or so, come home, give him some chow he'll start chilling out. but they're very alert dogs, especially with noise. in short: if you spend his energy, give him something to munch on and A LOT of water the'll come chill with you on the couch while watching TV.
@renske1760 I have had staffies for over 25 years and would recommend this breed to most people they are amazing dogs that get a bad rap from there history and stupid owners if u can give them regular exercise they are perfectly fine to lay around the house and chill out with u
I was checking to see what kind of dogs this were, cause an elderly person was just killed by one, a person is in critical condition, one person unknown.
Any dog with pounds of muscle and large jaws like this staffy - if not properly trained may end up being a danger to society - the muzzle & lead will probably soon apply to these dogs also, and they are not cute either - if your looking for cute try a golden retriever or a Labrador!!!
@@margaretobe5094 Staffys do not have large jaws. Also a dog doesn't need to be muscular. ANY breed of dog over 40 lbs can and has done damage and/or killed.
I have to question anyone who advises a commercial dog food for their diet. Dog "food" is better described as animal feed. Productions "standards" are non existant. Ingrediants are misleading and intentionally so. And it's hellish expensive. It's cheaper, and better, to buy human grade animal offal and mix it with vegies, rice and pasta yourself.
so yeah one fact mentioned that I belive to be incorrect, is that they were intially bred to be fighting dogs and then became good companion dogs. I belive this is incorrect, no doubt that they have been and continue to be bred for fighting, initially like the Pit Bull they were bred and used as nanny dogs due to their protective nature over the members of their pack, wether it be made up of humans or dogs makes no difference they protect their own from danger.
I’ve just gotta say whatever the motivation was which led to Staff’s breeding I thank those who have done so which two and a half times (I got a puppy once without clearance to have one gave her back next day she was around 10 weeks old still was an expensive but very rewarding puppy rental) has subsequently allowed me to experience the intense emotions that having a Staffy as your best friend brings out in all involved ☯️🫠🐶☯️
