Morissette Amon, Katrina Velarde, Regine Velasquez, and Lea Salonga are some of the best female Filipino singers. Lea Salonga, Princess Jasmine in "Aladdin," Fa Mulan in "Mulan," Eponine in "Les Mis," Fantine in "Les Mis," (different times for each both characters). Morissette Amon, squeaks, whistles, super long holds without literally *dying* from such a long note somehow. Very impressive! Asia's Phoenix. Firstly, please I ask all Katrina fans forgive me for hijacking this column to promote another singer. Hi! Enjoyed your reaction to Katrina. Yes, she exudes confidence. In that respect she is much like Angelina Jordan. You reacted to her performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" on 30 April and gave her a 10/10 for Stage Presence. I immediately subscribed to your channel but did not comment at that time. You also remarked with what I thought was "tongue in cheek" "Get out. You're too good for my channel". I didn't think for a moment that you meant it :-(. If you did and have no intention of reacting to her again, I will be disappointed but accept your decision. the following may assist you in changing your mind. My introduction to Angelina was on her first appearance at Norway's Got Talent and I didn't expect much from a 7 year old. Just a cute little girl, all nervous, rushing the song in parts, hesitating and then stumbling over or forgetting her words and generally acting her age and doing her best to get through a childish song like "Twinkle, twinkle little star". What did I see? Well, it was a seven year old child, with wild hair and gaps in her mouth, where there once were baby teeth. And that was when the normal perception ended and things turned upside down. She confidently answered the questions put to her by a Judge. Declared she was going to sing a song by the legendary Billie Holiday. Gestured off stage for the technician to start the music and then started singing. The body of the 7 year old was still there but the voice wasn't that of a child. As with the performance you reviewed, Angelina recrived a standing ovation from the audience. I have followed her career since I saw that first video on RU-vid and in the six years she has been singing publicly she has mastered many musical genres, including Blues, Country, Disco, Jazz,Pop, R&B and Soul, EDM and Rock and covered songs first performed by many famous singers,like Adele, Whitney Houston, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Lana del Ray, Gloria Gaynor, Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong and many others. What is more extraordinary is that she takes ownership of every song she sings while still paying respect to the original. She never goes into unnecessary theatrics (as you remarked she only needs herself and a single guitar). Never You will notice that ssings those high or low notes unless they are absolutely necessary to communicate the emotions in the song.. Never projects herself in any performance which says "look how good I am". She just sings the song as she feels it is meant to be sung. And I'll add an even more extraordinary item for you to consider, to show how unique she is. She has the innate ability not only to sing a song as emotionally as the song deserves but to be able to communicate those same emotions to the listener. As I have noted above, I have been following her career a long time and have listened to every interview she has given and every documentary about her and every performance she has ever given. What stands stands out for me is how a very shy and humble girl in her normal life, can be transformed into the perfect vehicle for the song she has chosen to sing, once she starts to sing. Although the gift of singing and all her performances appear to be effortless, Angelina works very hard to ensure that the one she is going to record reflects what she sees as the correct way to meld both lyrics and melody.
