The suncatcher you held up in the beginning is the exact design that was in the center of a stained glass window in the first house we lived in when I was born. With the help of Google Maps Street View I was able to capture the image of the window and I'm recreating that window as my first project. Your videos are very informative and enjoyable. Thank you for posting them.
I’ve watched a lot of stained glass videos and all were good but I really liked how you explained and did everything so well. Thank you for taking the time to do this for us newbies.
Great video! I am just retired and am very excited to try stained glass projects! This tutorial was terrific! Thank you for explaining all of the tools required.
Excellent video! I started stain glass 33 years ago at an Air Force base. Haven’t done any in 25 years so I needed a refresher. Your video was perfect. Thank you!
Very informative video, Michelle. Thank you. I use thin plastic sheets to make my pattern pieces. The pattern pieces can be used again even after the glass pieces run through the grinder.
Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed learning a few extra things I didn’t know from you. I’m a beginner, and you truly inspired me more. Your work hanging around you looks awesome. 🌷
Boy am I glad I found you. I am getting back into making stained glass after over 30 years and I had forgotten some things . Thank you for this great video !!😊❤
@@jccanada9931 I am also in the process of relearning after a break of thirteen years (I was looking after my wife and parents). I am 78 and still actively employed. A lot has changed in the stained glass arena. Good companies like Spectrum glass and Glasstar have closed down. Fortunately I have a good collection of glass to make a new start. I wish you the very best in your stained glass journey.
Beautifully taught and executed. ✨ At the end, I realized we didn't get to see the cutting of the circular piece in the middle. Cutting rounds by hand (as opposed to a saw) is still a natural challenge. Thank you for the detailed, nicely paced instructions. 🤗
Excellent explanation. The best video I found on the subject. I’m already hooked on your channel. Shame I am all the way in Brazil or I would get some kits.
enjoyed your video, I've been watching several vidoes, yours is very good. One suggestion: most of us struggle with soldering the most, could you get closer with camera for soldering portions? can't wait to see up-coming videos!
great video i learned a lot from it but i had a couple question i hope you will hep me with. i havent done any stained glass yet and dont even have a soldering iron im in the stage of watching hours of different videos. my question is what watt soldering iron are you using or do i need to do this? what would you recommend? second you mentioned there is a gap on the ring you are hanging it from how much gap is there? thank you.
Just now as a 66 year old getting started in stain glass! Love your video! Wondering if you can mail any of your kits? That would be Great for beginning!
Hi, that’s great! And you can order kits from my website www.diamondrockglassstudio.com I’m adding more kits soon and will be ongoing. Thanks so much, Michelle :)
I will be uploading a video in the next couple of days over the sun catchers that are on my website and I will be going over how to make antennas and attaching beak to the owl. Thank you!
I finished my owl except for the eyes and beak and wasn't sure how to do them. I will be looking for your next video. On to the bee so will need help with antennas. Did you upload video yet?
Do you have a list and price list for all of your current kits? I do fusing, leaded, and soldered glass art. I have all the tools including a grinder, Taurus 3 ring saw, and a 16 in paragon glass kiln. Thank you
Hello new to the channel and new to doing stained glass. I have a question, why did your dust pan move when you was talking about watching your pattern grow ? It was just strange lol
Great video. Could you please go over how to stop pieces from growing? Also if you use a sharpie do you cut on the inside of the line to keep pieces the same. Do you use the special scissors to stop pieces from growing?
Thank you! To keep pieces from growing, I cut right in my marker line and then grind the marker line completely off. I will try to go over this in an upcoming video :)
Your videos are great and very clear to understand! Thank you! Question: do you sell and ship to VA stained glass sheets on their own? I am still practicing and learning this craft after having stopped it about 25 years ago! I want to give myself some time before I move on to bigger projects so I will be ordering one or two of your suncatchers. In the meantime, I would just like to know where I can purchase larger sheets (8x10) in the future. We, unfortunately, do not have any stained glass shops, no Hobby Lobby, etc. Thanks, again!
I may consider selling sheets of glass in the future. Right now, I’m still just trying to get the basics on my website while running an open studio. Thanks so much! Happy cutting:)
Do you have to use the patina? I mean there's a product called Pearl Ex Pigments and it comes in a powder form in all different colors and you can put it on any metal to change the color, can it be used to change the color of the solder line instead of the patina?
I put the ring wiht magnet ;like this i have my 2 hand to work a 1\4x1\4 1 inch long is ok but sometime I use magnet from vintage 5 inch floopy drive the magnet are round 3 inch anf lfat put is unther the glas put the aliging the ring and wellding very fast
Hi, thank you! I’m sorry, I am currently not set up with deliveries outside of the United States. My website is fairly new and as I add more things, I may figure out shipping internationally.
Michelle can you tell me how to cut very small pieces without cutting my fingers! I am not good at cutting little pieces and when I try to perfect them with grinder my fingers are cut alot from having to hold them steady to the grinder. I don't know what finger protectors to use that won't lose dexterity. Real bummer. I just made a stained glass lighthouse and for the life of me I couldn't get the little pieces of the top of the lighthouse to cut accurately and fit. So frustrating.
Hi, I am sorry I am just getting back to you, I just now saw your comment. Thank you. I am working on a Website where all videos and kits will easily be accessed. It should be up in about 2 weeks. diamondrockglassstudio.com but for now, you can send any requests to my email michelleann.arnott@gmail.com Thank you for watching, I am also currently working on more videos and kits.
Hi, I will be sure to do a video all about soldering and these things. Your iron should be around 700 for standard 60/40 solder. I like to use a 3/8 inch tapered chisel tip on my soldering iron but I have had success with other sizes (smaller and larger). Thanks for watching!
I personally go to Ed Hoy International. I have a wholesale account there for my business. Unfortunately for glass hobbyists, there are not as many small studios around as there used to be. I don’t know where you live or if there is a studio near you to go to. You can go to my website www.diamondrockglassstudio.com I am in process of building my website and virtual video library with kits for convenience of complete projects. I will also eventually be adding glass packs for purchase. Hobby Lobby does have glass, although I have heard issues about their glass quality. But if you’re just starting out and want glass to work with and practice, I think their glass is fine. Hope this helps :)
@@michellearnott718thank u. I do have a question what is the price of the complete kit ? Because I am Seeing 2 different prices according to your video and website
Hi Veronica, for a first time suncatcher class, I dont typically cover the beading. I go over the very basics which I feel what I cover for someone's first time, is sufficient. You may disagree with me, but for very small projects, I dont always find the effort vs benefit of beading is really 100% necessary, as long as you are careful with your piece, especially during the washing and waxing part. Also, I make sure the stop and start of the foil is inside a seam if not beading. I appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching :)
Hi, yes, I do ship out kits. Just so you are aware, I will have a Website up and running in a week or two with all my virtual videos and a page where you may click and purchase any of the kits. For now, you may order directly from me. Thank you! Watch for www.diamondrockglassstudio.com :)
whats the spool? you just call it solder, no explanation, but the action youre taking is soldering, with the iron. so for beginners that raises questions. with searching, its a spool of solder. so you dont need to answer, or ask.
