I rebuilt the trailer floor on my lufkin 45 foot semi tractor trailer flat bed and used thompsons. Put three coats on it and never ever regretted it! OUTSTANDING RESULTS🤙
i barely picked up a 2021 big tex 12ft utility trailer as well and got the semi transparent version. definitely looking forward to the results after seeing your video.
What made you go with that color? I’ve always use that color but in the Home Depot “Olympic” brand. Off your video it doesn’t look as bold, maybe because the wood is fresh & the green tint from it being treated stick out, so I’m thinking of going with the Sedona Red in semi-transparent. I’m purchasing new wood so I’ll let it dry out before sealing it & I’m doing it off the trailer to catch the sides.
It has held up really well. It has been just over a year since I did it. I still have some left so I will do another coat here in a few weeks. Everybody that sees it loves the way it looks.
@@CrandallEquipment My local Menards has some of the all in one Thompson’s on clearance. They have Mountain Cedar but the Pacific Redwood looks like that would be a great color as well.
Did this to my big Tex 6 bye 12 as well put 3 coats on it actually and a month later it’s already growing mold/mildew on the deck and it’s not easy to pressure wash of without removing the stain.. not sure what I’m going to do now!
I put Thompson’s water seal with stain on my trailer (darker in color) last year. I was wanting to reapply another coat this year but it just beads on top of the wood. I’m debating on sanding the surface and try again to see if it will adhere to the surface. You said you reapplied another coat after two hours. Did you have trouble with the new coat just beading on top of the wood?
I did not have that issue. I was within the recommended re-coat window. If it has been a year, I would search around to see if Thompson’s has any re-coating directions.
My dad just replaced the boards on a trailer and now he’s thinking sod rubbing it down with used motor oil and diesel, any of y’all have any experience with such a technique?
You could probably put 1 coat , but it would probably take longer to dry. But I wouldn’t do the bottom. but it probably depends if there’s a lot of snow there then it’s a good idea to waterproof bottom.
