These are all high country lakes .... how do the trout put on serious weight and size ? You fish high country lakes in NSW and 1kg is a monster ! Is it the less fishing pressure ? Or abundance food supply ?
Nice vid bud! Was painful to watch those early strikes! Definitely take your time on a strike, smaller fish will take quickly but bigger browns on the plateau are very slow takes. Wait for the take an wait for their head to turn back down before striking
Hey mate, [ www.tasmap.tas.gov.au/do/product/4437DIG ] if you follow that link and click preview in listmap icon under the price. You can screenshot and print. It's an awesome spot up there - def some monsters in those lakes.
@p3p_flyfishing yeah, I agree. I learned that the hard way fishing the Rotoaira Canal with cicada patterns a few years ago. Its very slow moving deep water that is crystal clear, and the big rainbows come up to the surface to feed, then turn and go back down. You have to wait for them to head back down. I pulled a lot of flys out of their mouths before I was able to slow down my strike. Amazing summer fishing if you ever get the chance to check it out.
Hey mate, great video. I've been wanting to go to 19 lagoons for years. I was wondering if it was possible to use lures up there? Cheers m8. Keep up the awesome work.
It's an awesome spot, definitely worth a visit in the summer months. Pretty sure all of the lakes are Artificial (fly and lure) ; best to double check though. Lures should work well.
