Steve Allen was indeed a genius in his own right in the music he often featured !!!

And on DRUMS, VICTOR LEWIS! ! ! ! Master drummer. First heard him with Woody Shaw. Made me think differently about drums after seeing and hearing Mr. Lewis.

First saw this concert on PBS "Great Performances"; Recorded at the Paul Masson WInery. Great jazz concerts. Also featured Dexter Gordon, and Carmen McRae, if my memory serves me. Circa 1980?

Stan was one of the most fabulous tenors of jazz!!!!

The concert at the Paul Masson Winery, sometime in the early(?) 80s, IIRC. Thank God I taped the whole concert off the TV--Stan at his greatest!
