And he is not allowed to die until he appears in Infinity Wars Part 2 and confirms everyone's theory that he is, in fact, playing Uatu. And if Marvel DOESN'T do that, I would like to offer complimentary pitchforks and torches for when we go burn down the studio.
I can tell she wasn't a big reader of the books, but Stan was very gracious to her and never became condescending to her. and it's one of the reasons I think he's great!
Dc superman >> Marvel Dc is better at everythin In movies Dark knight trilogy won Oscar and dar knight trilogy defeated Avengers and won the ign movie award Dark knight trilogy >> Marvel movies Characters wise Dc has superman and Batman >> Marvel Comics Dc has Watchmen, dark knight returns and Superman comics Dc has Everythin
Agreed..to a point. Jack Kirby was not "media material", he was by nature shy and was always hunched over his table, too busy to talk about how great he was. Stan and Jack were a team, but Kirby was left in the dust when it comes to being reimbursed for his hard work.
@ag5 I suppose we'll just have to disagree. I think that Stan has made a huge contribution to the world of comics and has been creative, important, and collaborative. This is from many interviews I have read over the past 30 years. To say that he didn't create a thing for Marvel is a pretty bold statement and one that I have seen no evidence to support. He created and co-created many characters. Not saying Jack doesn't deserver much credit - love his work too.
@PSParama Thank you for being the reasonable one. Stan created or co-created many great characters. During the Sixties he was writing Fantastic Four, Hulk, DareDeviI, Iron Man, Spider-man, X-Men, Thor and others simultaneously. Marvel was struggling before Stan came along. He opened up the creative process to the artists which revolutionized the business. It doesn't mean the writers (now or then) sit on their butts while the artists do all of the work, though. It's a collaborative process.
+Joey.T.Cartoon.P This is the exact same formula that made the classic 'Looney Tune' shorts work. The 'Termite Terrace' crew just made the type of cartoons that they would enjoy, and in the end, everybody enjoyed them. Even the kids.
since X-Men Giant #1 came out in 1975 and before that (December 1970 through April 1975) there were NO new X-Men stories I'd say hardly any were part of X-Men story lines at the time cuz there were hardly any X stories
Very interesting and definitive interview by the master of comics, Stan lee! Also very interesting to learn that the fantastic four was the 1st comic book that was published by marvel. Just recently watched the fantastic four movies directed by Tim story which they were done so expertly by Tim, perfectly reflecting the essence and the ora of the fantastic four!!!
He's 89 now, turning 90 in december..so he was 54/55 in this interview. Still not a spring-chicken. Man's been around a long time. His first comics were in the late 30s, dude. Born in 1922. He was just the right age to go to war during WW2. He's old!
I wouldn't be surprised if Stan came up with Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm after watching a Bonanza episode back in the late fifties-early sixties, The Thing and The Torch remind me so much of Little Joe and Hoss Cartwright, their bickerings as well !
Marvel and Stan Lee mean so much to me! Thank you to people who filmed this and I'm glad you have the same passion as me to both find ourselves here!! #Lets Make Our World a Marvelous Place.
No they didn't only 480i or less and news flash 720p didnt show up till a few years ago for TV / video anyway..only film movies were high res but Tvs couldnt do more than 480i so it didnt matter it looked fine on them.
"We try to write stories we would enjoy" And now Marvel only does that some of the time. The rest they have like... 5 Avengers titles publishing, at the same time.
Thankyou stan for sneaking in spiderman! though i'm upset about the fourth movie without tobey Nobody's heard what you have to say about it. so what do you say
I feel that DC, generally speaking was very stilted through the 60's - While Marvel was fresh, exciting & developing their books - all had a better continuity going as well. Not to mention their artists whom many book fans all know & love. When I look through my SA DC's you don't always see too many book credits on the splash page. 60's comics is all about Marvel.
@ag5 Wrong. You have no idea about how stories were written at Marvel if you make a statement like this. Read interviews with Kirby, Ditko, etc. It is true that artists were treated poorly, but that doesn't make Stan a "snake". There are hundreds of articles and interviews with various artists and there were many pros and cons to working at Marvel, but to insinuate that Stan just "put his name" on other people's work is uninformed.
