"so does she not take wing like a living think child of the booming tides" has always felt like a challenge to me, a challenge to say other wise, a challenge to disagree with her beauty. this line brings me pain, as a young one from nova scotia the pain is that ill never see such a feat with my own eyes, ill never see her under full press with my own two eyes in all her glory

It's so sad that such a beautiful ship met such an undignified end by running aground on a reef as a simple cargo ship. It would have been better if she had met her end in a race, under full press.

Yes, but Bluenose II never got the chance to chase - and record - Bluenose's speed. As a replica she was never given the chance to BEAT the legendary schooner. I've no doubt that she DID haul down and her sailors know what she could do, but she was under orders to never beat her great ancestor.

Same goes for Stan Rogers...he died in a plane on the tarmac and if the cabin crew were a little more informed, Stan and others could have easily survived.

With all due respect to Stan Rogers whom I much admire, it seems a little disingenuous for him to refer to "the rich men's toys of the Gloucester boys with their token bit o' cod" when the Bluenose was herself designed specifically to race and her construction was subsidized just like her American competitors. No offense Stan, just sayin'.
