Dan Lebatard and Van Gundy are just part of the culture where they must virtue signal whenever someone says something they must disagree with to maintain their standing in their careers. I'd love to see either one of these guys to make the same criticisms against another faith that subjugates women by mandating face coverings and virtually their total lives are deferred to men. They wouldn't dare say a single word on this show regarding that faith, but it's open season on Western faiths and traditional Western values. They are the cowards, doing whatever they know they must do to maintain their "credentials".

That isn't exactly what he said. He said we were told diabolical lies about having aspirations and dreams that didn't involve being homemakers. Most women have children. Most of us are not homemakers. Imagine dismissing and minimizing women's accomplishments on their commencement day, while directing no such comments at the men, and not understanding why it was wrong.

Wow… to think that someone who believes in a traditional family; where the Dad works and the Mom holds the down the fort, same family that Stan Van Gundy was raised in, same family that MOST ATHLETES HAVE, same family that most of us born before 1990’s had, where the Man does the dirty work outside and the Woman does the dirty work inside, raising the kids and keeping the family straight… Maybe Stan Van Grundy should have asked his players what their wives actually do while the Men play basketball… I’m sure the wives had college degrees too. And where in the hell did Butker say anything that was “antisemitic?” Are we just throwing shit in to make him look worse? Why not call him anti Asian too? His speech was received enthusiastically by the attendees, so whatever the standard word salad you spew here, it meanders nothing to me. By the way, what is Bigotry? It's always hilarious when people call Catholics who follow the church's teachings "bigots." The word bigot was coined by Catholic priests from Paris to describe the Franco-Norman peasants of Normandy, who were Christian but unchurched and had very strange ideas about Christian teaching based in local customs. They hated being corrected, and would scream "by God!" when challenged. Because they were Franco-Normans with a Nordic accent, this came out as "Bi Gott!" or bigot. At any rate, it is you who are the bigot: a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. Especially a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious group).

I think the primary reason his wife doesn't work is because the unique nature of his job, which requires him to be on the road frequently. By not working, she is able to bring his children along so that being on the road doesn't mean being separated from his family. She gave up her career so he could pursue his (very lucrative) career without sacrificing his role as a father. He also did not say their degrees did not matter. Being a wife and mother is not mutually exclusive with having a career and having an education is a good on its own. Even stay-at-home mothers benefit from an education. He also did not say that they *should* focus on being wives and mothers, he said he guessed that the majority of them *would* focus on being wives and mothers. And if you are speaking to a crowd of young conservative Catholic women, many of whom are already married, that is a very, very safe guess. Which is why that part of the speech got a huge applause *from the women.* You're the one being misogynistic. Being a mother is an essential aspect of being a woman. You don't love women if you don't love their ability to create new life. Women are adult human females. If you truly respect women, then you respect them as adults, as humans, and as females. You cherish and celebrate their femaleness and their unique ability that men do not have.

This is the problem that people, like yourself, don't understand. Most of the women who go to a conservative catholic university WANT to be stay at home moms. It's not like a typical public university. That's the atmosphere there. They literally make jokes about it when they go to school that if a man and woman attending are dating that it's a countdown to when their marriage will be. Stan Van is the only person who I've heard mention that they're not surprised at what was said considering the institution. I agree with Stans take on that. I believe that there are some women more excited at the thought of being mothers than they are of their graduation, and its also okay if there are women who feel more excited about graduating. The Catholic Church (and all protestant religions too) condemns homosexual actions via the Bible, with the consequence of such actions being damned to eternal hell with its physical and emotional pain. Just because there is a bad Pope insinuating otherwise means nothing. Just because protestants say one cannot lose their salvation means nothing. The Bible is the Word of God (God, your creator); the Catholic Church is the sole interpreter of the Bible. Impossible for a Pope to teach against the Bible or participate in false religions. One who does such places themselves outside the Catholic Church. Basic Church teaching which has not been taught since the 1960's. To speak against today's wretched sins is an act of love (Charity). Hate the sin, Love the sinner.

They all know its possible to commit grievous sin after you've been saved. Then they say, 'Oh, well, that person was never actually saved,' which is a convenient way to sidestep the issue. This approach essentially rewrites the narrative after the fact, rather than acknowledging the possibility of falling from grace. Hebrews 6:4-6 speaks of those who have 'once been enlightened' and 'tasted the heavenly gift' but then 'have fallen away,' making it impossible to be brought back to repentance. Such passages indicate that even those who have genuinely experienced salvation are not immune to apostasy. This perspective aligns more closely with the reality of Christian life, where continuous repentance, perseverance, and reliance on God’s grace are necessary. The assurance of salvation should inspire humility and vigilance, not complacency.

Ya’ll are messed up. He had every right to his speech and his words. He was there in the off season and in no way was representing the NFL or the KC Chiefs. He stuck up for his Catholic beliefs, at a Catholic school, for a Catholic audience. He was in the perfect place and circumstances for the speech he made. You wouldn’t make that speech at a Jewish school now would you? He had every right and the freedom to give that speech when, where and how he did. He did nothing wrong. The only thing making it “controversial” in any way are those who don’t agree with the Catholic beliefs making it sound controversial by screaming their disapproval of his views. There is the controversy, not within his very appropriate speech.

No, it didn't. The Benedictine Sisters of Mt. St. Scholastica, an order of nuns associated with the school, issued a statement disagreeing with him. Because he didn't explicitly say that women could also become nuns. The Benedictine Sisters are also all in their 70s, and have spent the last 50 years in constant hot water with the Vatican because of their radical feminist rhetoric and near-heretical positions on the Church's teachings on gender. Since Harrison's speech reflected actual Church teaching and not the Catholic feminism they want, they complained.

Butler said in his speech that the title that would likely bring them the most satisfaction is that of mother and homemaker. He did not say that is all that they should be. Get it straight before you disparage a good religious man that is not afraid to speak his truth.

Your children and your husband are your forever people. Your work titles are in theory temporary titles. To support your husband and teach your children ARE the most important things that a woman that chooses to marry does. People are pissed at him because he is advising them to dare to be different than what modern US culture is postulating.

In his speech he criticizes priests and Bishops as well for not being forthright and running and hiding from criticism . Wish people would watch and listen to the whole speech instead of listening to the donkeys in the media try and run him over because it’s not politically correct by today’s screwball standards.

I don’t agree with what he said but I won’t say he’s homophobic or bigoted. That’s his religion and opinion, which anyone can have. You don’t have to align with him or even listen to him so I really don’t know what the complaint is. If I don’t like a tv show I don’t watch the whole thing and complain I change the channel! I'm glad Butker gave his speech and it got displayed for everyone to see. The problem is nothing does more damage to religion than people like Butker. Young people are leaving religion in droves with each generation and they say the same thing over and over, they leave because of the hypocrisy they see in the church and the judgemental attitudes of so many religious people. It isn't liberals, public schools, gay people, none of that is causing people to leave religion. People are telling them why but they don't care, they don't want to listen, they only want to preach, then as religion declines they don't want to self reflect, they just look for who to blame. Nothing does more damage to religion than religious people like Butker. I don't think they're terrible people, I don't dislike them, but they're the ones doing the real damage with no self reflection. A lot of you in these comments might respond to me, try to gaslight, you can say whatever you want but in the end, I'm still correct and there isn't much you can do about it.

The Catholic Church is growing among Gen Z, with a 7% increase in the last two years alone. Butker's speech is going to create massive interest in Catholicism amongst a generation that has grown up in the cultural wasteland that is the product of liberal hedonism and the destruction of any sense of social norms. Young people are sick of the chaos and are looking for something real and powerful and full of tradition, which the Church offers. Meanwhile, sanctimonious and self-righteous progressives who are completely blind to the damage their beliefs are causing, mistaking social collapse for "liberation," are destroying any credibility you once had. But don't let me --change your mind-- gaslight you. I want you to think "in the end, I'm still correct and there isn't much you can do about it." Hubris always comes before the fall.
