Regardless that Stan Walker is not the original artist to Ultralight Beam, Stan Walker vocals are so amazing and the fact that we can understand him, and the message has been received by thousands when the world needs this most but props to Kanye for writing the song. Stan Walker can belt, his range is amazing, his backup singers are fabulous on point. Small fact you probably do not know, The fact that Stan Walkers stomach was removed due to cancer and being able to sing with such power is nothing short of God's Blessing.

Stan never sings as a competition. He sings with conviction, grace & praise always. Shouldn’t reactions be unbiased? Otherwise what’s the point 🤷🏽‍♀️

Appreciate your opinion. Everyone has to have that. It is ashame that you came in to this with your mind made up but your entitled to that. Stans version was not to sound exactly the same as the original artist but to bring it to the music scene with a different approach. Stan has a raw talent that is not mixed with AI technology or is trying to sound like other artist. I hope you listen to it again and appreciate his own talent.

Original version is a shocker . Does anyone actually like that track? I heard Stan's version before the original and then had to hear what Kantsing West's version was like. I'm sure West must have nightmares when he listens to his song get sung by someone with real ability.

I did try listening to the original version and will try to finish it because the lyrics are extraordinary. However, it's a struggle for me personally because I prefer listening to gifted singers. How someone creates a new version can often be hit & miss for some so understand why this version is too different for you. I think I prefer Stan Walkers version because I better understand where Stan is coming from in the context of being Māori & what this means in New Zealand. Suggest if you want to understand what he means by black lives matter listen to a more recent song by him called I am the Colour. Someone calling themselves black in Australia and New Zealand often refers to being indigenous and all the shite that comes with that, including slavery. Actually in Australia it's Blak as the first peoples of Australia tend to say this instead. Hope you still listen to other music by Stan Walker. I can honestly say he is a generous and kind person. His music has it's connection to both his faith & culture. When he sings I can hear the songs I learnt when living in Aotearoa New Zealand. I can hear the song friends and family sing from a diverse range of Pacific Island countries.

I love the vulnerability in the original, which is what you get with Kanye's pared-back vocal. Chance the Rapper's part is fantastic, too. This is a different beast though as far as interpretation goes and I think it works well. They're just very different tonally.

Appreciate you giving props to Kanye for his original song. However if a group or artist does a cover of an original song they almost always put their own stamp on it. which is what Stan Walker and his amazing backing singers did. And as for him having an occasional glance down on to the lyrics, this may well have been his first attempt or rehearsal as it's is obviously a studio setting not a stage. You cut the video short too, which I find rather rude. Sorry to say I'm disappointed in your review. Still hoping you will explore more of this remarkable singer. Best wishes from Australia

Stan is a Māori man from NZ. He won the Australian Idol in 2009. He came from a very dysfunctional family as most of us were. No diss to parents. He writes a lot of his own material and the songs I gotta say are …. different. There beautiful, uplifting and a pleasure to listen to. Saw Kanye West version… not to my taste. Very disjointed. Didn’t ebb and flow like Stans version.

I agree I have always appreciated covers but to me the original is always how it should be as its the creators vision. Now that said you should as a reactor be able to appreciate the version for its differences otherwise its a straight copy.

Ok its your opinion ive heard the original version... lyrically yes, tonality hell to the no ...but thats the way Kanye likes to spit and its his song but i prefer this version simply on component structure and the choosen use of the musical variations stan and the Levites 100% hit it at a different angle i like that instead of a carbon copy in my opinion otherwise its just boring to me
