FBI Agent Emily Byrne (Stana Katic) vanishes after tracking a Boston serial killer and is declared dead. Six years later, she is found in a cabin in the woods, with no memory of what happened during the time she went missing. She comes back to a husband who has remarried, and whose wife is raising her son. She navigates her new reality and finds herself implicated in a new series of murders. Katic joined BUILD to discuss the new season of "Absentia."

Yes, she is!!......... I read that the big bosses at ABC fired her from her network T.V. show " Castle" a few years back.......while I was listening to her talk I could not help but notice that this is just a wonderful human being inside and out.....what kind of heartless jerk would fire HER??

In a backhanded kind of way, the ABC suits ignorance and blind-sidedness might have been a catalyst to Stana Katic being able to find roles such as Emily Byrne and begin her journey behind the camera.

The story line of Absentia is so thrilling and dramatic. I just love all of the characters. Stana Katic is outstanding, as this being her show and being Executive Producer is fantastic. I am giving this show a standing ovation.

Excellent TV series, cast, script writers, and other creatives! In the last question, I would have added that there is also Amanda Tapping, who went from actress to director. And has made great short films. I just wish she had been added to This Changes Everything directed by Tom Donahue and is streaming on Netflix. The documentary goes deep into the filming industry and gender disparity in Hollywood. Although, I'm happy the Absentia team chose Bulgaria to film. The atmosphere and colors chosen for each scene, and for each character's personality. Chef's kiss! 🎥 😘

Interesting explanation as to how she saw being #1 on the call sheet as being a responsibility. I remember seeing an interview with NF re Castle and he seemed to believe that being #1 on the call sheet meant it was all about him.

@@sarahjames927 They were minor problems that the internet is still blowing out of hand. All sets have these types of issues. The fact that people/fans/media/etc. only started talking of these "problems" after Castle was cancelled will always speak volumes of the true nature of what happened. Which was that it was a small thing that got blown wildly out of control with all the cancelation issues that happened fueling its flame.

Buffy8fan, obviously you didn't watch Castle's Season 7 and 8 because it is painfully obvious that Nathan Fillion demanded more screen time and less attention on his costar Stana Katic. And, because of his inflated ego and jealousy over Stana Katic's rising star status Castle's ratings started to slip. Season 8 was a complete trainwreck because Nathan Fillion wanted the show to completely revolve around him and Stana Katic got even less screen time. The ratings spiraled downward. They wrote Kate Beckett out of the script for Season 9 that never happened. The ABC suits gave into Nathan Fillion's jealousy diva wants and needs and the show died a painful death. Minor? What took place was anything but minor.

One of the biggest mysteries in this world is why on earth women (and actresses in particular) choose to wear these short, revealing skirts only to spend the entire time trying to find ways to cover themselves up and cross their legs like a contortionist.
