This is a great video because Andi is playing "real" world jams and I really think the original bridge sounds better to me. If one is convinced that a high-mass bridge makes a huge difference then one must purchase and install and be happy. For now, I will save my money and play more bass! Cheers!
For me the reason is simple - if your bass is neck heavy then a higher mass bridge and lighter tuning pegs can help to balance better - did this on my Squier VM Jaguar Short Scale bass and now if played in sitting position it plays better. With a decent strap one don't need it. I am looking for drop in Fender replacement for SX JB75, J&D JB and an SX62 5 string - ideally with the quick release slots to make string changing easier. Now my Gibson Steinberger copy - that balances perfectly in sitting position and great for travel.

I was thinking about that too, how much are you actually going to be able to tell just by hearing in a full band playing? I would think more when it comes to sustain and depth of sound, you can feel it. But if no one told me I wouldn't tell which bridge was which or which base had which hardware 🤷🏻♂️ it's all close lol
I think the high mass bridge is clearly a better made piece of kit but you just need to adjust ur settings a slight bit for the tone u want. I play in half a step down all the way and I like the extra solid bridge to keep the strings moving so much. It's not like I play like a maniac or anything but i find it helps sometimes. Slight change of the tone knob and and pickup blend and it's all good. More sustain and I think the open notes sound better 100% of the time anyways with the high mass. Nice vid for comparison. Everyone has their preferred sound, feel and ways of getting it
