I find the Poly extremely appealing in so many ways. The rooms are very very nice. I love the colors and finishings. I think AKV could take some direction from Poly. Not that I think the cultures are particularly similar, but in terms of design features to offer in the rooms, you have a tradition of woodworking and beautiful fabrics in both Polynesia and much of Africa. But at Poly we get this beautiful cool blue and whittled wood look and at AKV we get chocolate milk color plasticky rough hewn fake (?) wood. AKV rooms look like what you'd find in a moderate resort while Poly vies with GF. Just beautiful. I'm sure it was a wonderful stay. Whoa! You're a monorail hater? You must explain yourself! LOL. Thanks, Jacqueline

The vibes at the Poly are so good and yeah I see what you mean about AKV. I think AKV just still feels a bit dark/heavy, but that could absolutely be addressed in a refurb to get it to maximal vibe potential. I think we've talked about my dislike of the monorail before lol. I am just very utilitarian when it comes to transportation, and the monorail (as it functions right now) is just too slow and headways are way too long. I shouldn't have to wait more than maybe 7 minutes for the next train if we're going at peak times! And yet it's routinely way way longer than that in my experience. Infuriating. Not a fan lol

@@PixieDustPhD Yeah, I like the monorail much less than before the Skyliner, which is so superior, except when it's shut down for storms, of course. The monorail would be improved with more cars. Do they have the same number from the beginning, or have they added over time? I don't know if the system can handle the weight or more cars, but they definitely need them.

Love the Poly studios. I was just there in January, and it convinced me to buy a small 50pt add on there. Good thing I did, since prices on the resale market just skyrocketed due to the new Island Tower.

The Poly as a whole resort has such a chokehold on me and I basically had to ban myself from browsing resale out of fear of buying in (just more points I don't need haha). But super happy that timing worked out for you! What a great add-on!!

Hey!! Good to hear from you :) Thanks for the kind words and yes I hope you are well too!! The Poly as a whole resort, with all of its offerings combined, for me is truly top tier. Agree - it's lively and I love it!

@@PixieDustPhD Hello! I’m well. I never stayed at Poly. But always visited O’hana for dinner. And spent time in the lobby visiting the stores and the grounds. The stores there have some nice DVC merchandise.

This video went up while I was at Animal Kingdom Lodge staying club level so just now getting back to it. A monorail hater who owns at BLT? Hmm...I guess the rationale being you can just walk to Magic Kingdom - but what about Epcot? Polynesian is a resort I definitely want to stay at before long, it's on the list. I like your room overviews because you seem to focus on things that I would think to notice - like the lack of a freezer compartment in the fridge.

Lol everyone is always all up on my back about disliking the monorail. Here's my thing. I dislike all Disney transit. Transit to me is utilitarian, to get me from point A to point B. I live in a place with good public transit. The monorail headways are obscenely long, the doors are way to slow, the people don't seem to understand how transit works (the amount people will scoff if you hop on to a car that's somewhat full as if they are owed space to do a cartwheel around them), the cars themselves are too slow. I hate it haha. But precisely yes, I picked BLT so I could just * walk *, much faster than the monorail. If the monorails operated properly as if it was transit and not an attraction, that'd be good. Frankly, I'd rather pay like $2 per ride to have a well oiled machine then have it be free but a monstrosity. EPCOT, I mean mostly we do split stays and try to be at BWV. So. There ya go. Also walking. But regardless, for a long trip we always have a rental car. For shorter trips, I suck it up and deal with the Disney transit or pay for rideshares. Glad you find the room tours helpful! Thanks for the feedback!

Great video, super informative as per usual! I constantly hear Poly studios are the biggest while BLT studios are the smallest, but that living room does look the same size right? Does the main pool get too busy?

By square footage yeah they are huge (that first bathroom is massive, and then there's an entire second shower space lol), but yeah living space they all feel VERY similar to me. Poly living space is probably best compared to anything else with that fifth pull down single sleeper (BLT doesnt have that - but BLT does have a big shelving unit instead so it takes up approximately the same amount of space I'd say). If you're only two people, I personally don't notice the difference in the living space square footage. If you're four people, I could see an extra 10 sq ft or whatever making a difference. I'm not really a pool person so probably not the best to ask! We also tend to travel off peak times so I mean yes when I walk by the Poly pool it is always busy, but it's never like sardines packed together by any means. But I assume that changes if you go during more popular times!

@@PixieDustPhD the showers do look nice, but in every video the main quarters always looked same size to me, and this kinda confirmed it. Will definitely still give it a try if we can find a pre/post BLT resort day, but I love having it a monorail away and saving those 5 extra points a night
