This is rare. When I was growing up in the 70's and 80's almost every church had piano, organ and choir. It's hard to find nowadays, and much more to find it done well, thanks for keeping this kind of music alive.
I am an organist/choirmaster from a parish in the liturgical tradition (Anglican), but I always enjoy listening to hymnody like this, especially if there's a good pianist like this one. The piano certainly helps to maintain the rhythm. The embellishments that she does is certainly a lot of fun.
Anyone remember the City Temple Bristol in the 60's. The piano and organ were out of this world. Beautifully balanced. Now sadly given over to overloud guitars and drums.
Two magnificent musicians! Jay using both hands , both feet, both eyes, both ears, and singing the hymn that his is playing so beautifully on the organ! Sharon is also an extremely talented pianist ! Just watching her adding in all those extra notes takes a tremendous amount of concentration and experience. We miss them tremendously, but they are using their wonderful talents in heaven now !
Are Sharon and Jay both in Glory now??? She and Rudy Atwood, of The Old Fashioned Revival Hour fame, are two of the absolute best pianists I have ever heard. I had the pleasure of having Rudy accompany me, when singing for Paul Rader's Crusades, here in the Northern Virginia,, Washington, D. C., area. What an absolute delight to know that you had their support and that neither of us were going to get in the other one's way!!! Just tell Rudy the key and he knew it from memory!!! Miss them both so much!!!
A great hymn, accompanied in an inspiring way by both musicians. Sharon Goldsberry is brilliant on the piano; the ability to improvise like this is not that common, but adds so much!
@@dalerider3124 I'm sorry if you reached a different conclusion to the one I reached, and have a greater insight into the pianist's intentions. If she played in a plainer, more restrained way, would it glorify God more? For me, Sharon is playing the best way she knows how, to the glory of God. Her contribution has evidently blessed many people (see comments). I cannot sit as judge and jury concerning her intentions, which are a matter between her and God. God bless you.
@@dalerider3124 Whether she is showing off or not (IMO she is not showing off, just playing according to her personality and talent), what REALLY matters is not the speed of the piano-playing, but the actual words of the song being sung......Standing on God's promises. A piano will not save one's soul.....God's promise, in Jesus Christ, will.
@@dalerider3124 you are full of you know what. Guess you are just one jealous…there are a lot of words I could use here to complete the sentence, but you wouldn’t ever understand even if you could read it. Thanks for your ignorant comment.
I love the tempo, but the director sets the tempo. The organist and pianist are great! It sounds like Sharon is playing her own arrangement, and doing a tremendous job. It amounts to a whole lot more than just “filling in the blanks from the organ”.
WOW.......ID GIVE ANYTHING TO FIND A CHURCH WITH THIS KIND OF MUSIC....SADLY IS GONE...MAYBE WE WILL HEAR IT IN HEAVEN.....THANK YOU FOR POSTING...GOD BLESS
Maam Sharon i love to see ur hands playing piano i appreciate it much, keep doin it for the Lord so with the organist so nice playing, and the message of the hymns so inspiring
06/20/2024 : AMAZING! Oh my God, the lady pianist is fabulous! I'm going to send this video out to all my friends. I am so glad I came across this video. It made my day. Tim Brien/Des Moines, IA.
The pianist is dragging everybody along with her. The organist and choir can hardly keep up. I'd love to hear her play some solos. She's certainly got the joy!!!
I always played the organ on Sunday mornings, but the fun came on Sunday evenings when I could play the piano and have some fun with all the hymn singing. Perfect evangelistic piano playing. You either have it or you don't>
FMC of Houston Chancel Choir is next to hearing the church triumph in Heaven singing their praises to our Lord. The pianist and organist are also all inspiring. I play hymns on my piano but not in any superb fashion as your delightful pianist does. God bless you choir and First Methodist Church. I really mean that even coming from a very conservative Presbyterian.
I love this! I haven't seen Sharon playing of late, is she still playing I hope? You two work so well together. I am the organist in Illinois in a UMC and we do piano and organ too. People ask if all of the notes are in the acc. part for piano. I tell them it is just like "filling in the blanks!" lol This is Spirit filled music.
I am grateful to say that I am a born again Christian and have been since I was 19.......I am grateful that we can gather together whether it’d be church congregation choir where two or more are gathered in his name there he will also be! However folks if you don’t know Christ as your savior then it burdens my soul to think that you are headed for a terrible place called Hell where the Bible says the fire is never quenched and the worm dies not! Folks you are not promised tomorrow! If you want to know how to be saved from this horrible reality then please by all means don’t hesitate to comment right back so I can lead you to the savior! 2 Corinthians 6:2 clearly states “now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation!” And Hebrews 3:15 clearly states, “Today if you hear his voice don’t harden your hearts! it is not me but the Holy Spirit that I pray reveals to you the truth of his precious gospel......John 3:16 says for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes on him will not perish but have everlasting life! V 17 says then V 18 says whoever believes on the son is not condemned but whoever does not believe on the son is condemned already because he has not believed on the son whom God has sent! Also Acts 16:30-31 what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house I am not threatening anyone but just warning them what will happen if they reject this precious gift of eternal life! Christ died a horrible criminals death! He was beaten brutally mocked spit upon and endured countless hours of torture pain for all of our sins! Ppl go to hell because they reject that pardon for their sins! And Jesus is saying to them in Matthew 25:41 depart from me you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels! Hell was only prepared for Satan and his angels! It is not God who threatens anyone it is the craziness of rejecting the free pardon of salvation! It’s like if you’re in court you’ve committed a crime say you murdered someone! Now if you say to that Judge hey I know I’ve done a terrible thing of murdering that person but I hear you’re a good judge and so I know you’ll be fair to me...... the judge is going to reply well yes you’re right about one thing I am a good judge and because I’m a good judge I’m going to see to it that you’re punished and that justice is served! Well then all of a sudden someone you don’t even know comes forward and says you know what I know he’s committed the crime he’s committed and he deserves to go to jail but I really don’t want to see him go to prison so I’ll just go to prison for him so he can go free! So if you accepted that offer you’d be free to leave the courtroom but if you didn’t well you’d be crazy and go to prison yourself! Well that’s exactly how it was 2,000 years ago! He is God in human flesh and he came to this earth lived a perfect sinless life and even though he knew that we had sinned and because of our sins deserved to die miserably but he said no I don’t want to see them suffer so I will go and take their punishment for them! Even though he did absolutely nothing wrong still he chose to take the punishment for our sins so we can be set free from the power bondages and consequences of our disobedience to God! Romans 5:8 says For God commends his love toward us that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us! 1 John 2:2 says he was made to be the propitiation for our sins! And not just for our sins but the sins of the whole world! 2 Corinthians 5:21 He who knew no sin became Sin for us that we would be made his righteousness! The truth is if you had to get to Heaven by your own effort then you cannot do it! Because Romans 3:10 says there is not one that does good! No Not One! Romans 3:23 says For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God! Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death! But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord! But the good news is Romans 10:9 If we confess with our mouth and believes in our hearts that Christ died for our sins then was raised from the dead we will be saved! V 10 For it’s with the heart we believe and it’s with the mouth confession is made unto salvation! God gave us 10 commandments to follow and we’ve broken every one of them! And because God is a good God he cannot allow our disobedience to him to go unpunished! Well then like I just mentioned above his son Jesus stepped forward and said no I don’t want to see them punished so I will take their punishment for them! And also like I said he died a terrible substitute criminal’s death for us on a cross so now all we have to do is accept that payment for our sins and we can escape the terrible wrath of God that is to fall on them who do not accept this atonement that was sacrificed for our sins! Praise the lord Romans 10:13 says Whoever calls on the name of the lord shall be saved! And 1 Peter 1:4 you’re an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you! Christ clearly said in John 14:6 I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the father but through me! Acts 4:12 clearly states that there is no other name given unto Heaven or earth by which we must be saved as there is salvation in no other! Jesus clearly states that there is clearly only one way to Salvation and it’s him that’s it! There is no other way! God Bless everyone who reads!
Standing on the promises of Christ my King, Through eternal ages let His praises ring, Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing, Standing on the promises of God. Standing, standing, Standing on the promises of God my Savior; Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God. 2 Standing on the promises that cannot fail, When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail, By the living Word of God I shall prevail, Standing on the promises of God. 3 Standing on the promises I now can see Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me; Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free, Standing on the promises of God. 4 Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord, Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord, Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword, Standing on the promises of God. 5 Standing on the promises I shall not fall, List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call. Resting in my Savior as my All in all, Standing on the promises of God.
Baptists have a tendency to take their hymns at a brisk tempo. This is the tempo I first learned to play it, myself. I'm not a Baptist (raised Presbyterian, presently a practicing Anglican), but I did play for a couple of Baptist congregations, and learned that gospel hymns are not to be dragged.
🙏🇪🇬 app agae mujh se like chahiyae hein to mein shaped hi like karo sorry very very fast sang God ke haq mein smooth and with the rhuthem of beutiness present ho zuada achae hoga apnae kagaz li tarah haea mein uran diya app ko hatana chahati hoon softly with inspiring video ho to aur pyara sundae mein lagae es tarah marks kam hai
Not too fast at all. Hymns are not supposed to be sung as funeral dirges, they should be spirited, uplifting, and give praise, glory and honor to Jesus Christ The King of all Glory, who lives and reigns from on high!!!! Someday, face to face!!!
